Leo steered the car back onto the main road and said calmly,
"There's been a major breach within S.H.I.E.L.D. And besides, I don't know how many people Pierce has bought off."

Fury sounded somewhat desolate and helpless as he spoke.
He had devoted his entire life to this cause, yet in the end, every last one of them had turned against him and wanted to kill him. That kind of grief was enough to leave anyone utterly powerless and broken.
"Only someone who has died once can never die again." Nick put both hands back on the steering wheel and looked at Leo.
