Never forget why you started, and you can see it through to the end.
Wang Lei had not even finished speaking. The mere mention of the word "original intention" made Zhou Feiyu's eyes light up.
That was right. External things were ultimately just external things. Only what he truly wanted at his core was real. He could not let other people's terms disrupt his own pace.
My original intention is to work in technology, make money while creating value and contributing to society. But none of that can happen without money and a business. Although FY-01's patent probably isn't considered top-tier technology in the Galaxy Technology Library, selling it for fifty million wouldn't be a loss at all. But money without a business is ultimately rootless duckweed. I wouldn't be able to go any further, nor would I be able to maximize my influence.
After thinking it over, Zhou Feiyu decided to stick to his original plan and begin normal mass production of FY-01 first.
As for financing, he could consider it if the price was right.
What Yang Jiacheng of Qian Jia Optics had said reminded him that this world was not peaceful. It was only because he lived in a peaceful country that he had not felt it.
With FY-01's powerful performance, it should not merely dominate the domestic market. It ought to go abroad and contribute to the entire world.
And that meant he would have to face a problem: King Material's targeting and suppression!
King Material had dominated the world for more than half a century. It would never willingly surrender its position as overlord. It would certainly suppress him however it could, so he had to make preparations early.
"Then we'll have to negotiate the financing terms carefully."
Zhou Feiyu said with a smile.
"Congratulations, President Zhou."
Wang Lei smiled as well, though it was a somewhat ingratiating smile. His expression held both awe and envy.
In just a few hours, less than half a day, Wang Lei had practically witnessed the birth of a multimillionaire. And the other man was younger than him. Comparing people could drive one to death; comparing goods could make one throw them away.
If Zhou Feiyu had merely been running a business worth hundreds of thousands or a million or two, Wang Lei could have stayed calmer. He might even have felt jealous. But faced with a net worth measured in fifty million, he could not remain calm, nor could he summon any jealousy.
"This is the power of science and technology!"
Wang Lei sighed inwardly. There was simply no comparing this. Then he asked with a smile, "President Zhou, your company has just started up, so this is exactly when you need people. If you don't mind, I'd like to recommend myself and work for you."
Zhou Feiyu was stunned at first, then smiled. "I would naturally be delighted to have Lawyer Wang join my team and start a business together."
As he spoke, he extended his right hand.
Wang Lei was overjoyed and hurriedly clasped it with both hands.
There was no doubt that Wang Lei was a smart man, as well as someone who understood the times and had ambition. Upon seeing such a promising prospect, he immediately wanted to get on board and "achieve great things together."
Zhou Feiyu had no objection. Everything the company did had to follow the law, and having Wang Lei around would save him a great deal of trouble.
As for ambition, once the company grew and hired more people, they could simply follow the rules. There was no need to worry too much.
Soon after, the two prepared to leave.
"Huh, aren't you Li Lanmei's nephew, Zhou... Zhou what's-your-name? Why are you here drinking tea too?"
A hoarse voice suddenly came from the entrance, stopping Zhou Feiyu.
However, the newcomer was clearly not very familiar with Zhou Feiyu, to the point that he could not even recall his full name.
Zhou Feiyu looked up. The man seemed somewhat familiar, and only after thinking for a while did he recognize him. It was Li Shihan's second uncle-in-law, Li Xingwen, the one who held a grudge against him. Behind him stood a thin young man about 1.75 meters tall, dressed in a suit and leather shoes, with a string of sandalwood beads the size of pigeon eggs around his left wrist.
Before they even approached, a strong scent of face powder drifted over, making Zhou Feiyu frown.
"Lawyer Wang, you're here too?"
The young man in the suit greeted Wang Lei with some surprise.
Wang Lei nodded in acknowledgment. "So it's Young Master Zeng. Yes, I came here to take care of something."
"Second Uncle-in-law, I'm Zhou Feiyu."
Zhou Feiyu greeted Li Xingwen in an indifferent tone, then said, "I had something to do, so I came over and sat for a while."
Li Xingwen asked without smiling, "Did you run into difficulties with your business venture? Is it a funding problem?"
Zhou Feiyu did not want to say much to him. He simply said, "No," and prepared to leave.
But Li Xingwen suddenly pulled the young man in the suit forward and introduced him. "This is Zeng Xianbing. He runs a factory in the county town too and has recently been looking for people to invest with him. If you have funding problems, you can talk to him."
Zhou Feiyu did not know whether to laugh or cry. Should I call him kind-hearted, or is he deliberately trying to disgust me?
Wang Lei, who had been listening beside them, wore the same bemused expression.
Good lord, a poor man wanted to invest in a multimillionaire?
Zeng Xianbing, dressed in a suit with large sandalwood beads on his wrist, looked Zhou Feiyu up and down with curious eyes. Then he smiled faintly. "So you're Zhou Feiyu. I heard your aunt by marriage introduced you to Li Shihan and tried to match the two of you up? You're nothing special. I thought you'd be something impressive. Let me introduce myself. I'm Zeng Xianbing, and I'm also one of Li Shihan's blind date prospects. Second Uncle-in-law introduced us. Let me tell you this: I'm definitely marrying Li Shihan. You've already lost!"
"Good lord, was this Mars colliding with Earth? No, wait, was it an egg smashing into a rock?"
Wang Lei's expression immediately became extremely strange, and the way he looked at Zeng Xianbing changed.
He knew Zeng Xianbing. Relying on his father's connections in the government, Zeng Xianbing had opened a Packaging Material Factory in the county town. It specialized in supplying some of the smaller factories in the industrial park. After nearly two years of rapid development, he had amassed a fortune of several million.
In the county town, Zeng Xianbing and the sons of several other factory owners formed a circle of drinking buddies, each calling himself "Young Master."
Over the years, Zeng Xianbing had occasionally sought him out over legal issues, so they were acquainted.
However, Wang Lei felt that these people were just fooling around with small-time schemes, so he had no interest in rubbing shoulders with such "drinking buddies." He kept his distance.
He had never expected to run into them here, much less witness such juicy gossip.
Wang Lei had always thought Zeng Xianbing was already married.
But of all people to compare himself with, Zeng Xianbing had to pick Zhou Feiyu. Wang Lei was practically about to burst out laughing.
"Do you think this is children playing house?"
Zhou Feiyu glanced at him as if he were an idiot, then said to Li Xingwen, "Second Uncle-in-law, I have something to do, so I'll be leaving first."
With that, he walked away without looking back, completely ignoring Zeng Xianbing.
Zeng Xianbing's face immediately flushed red with anger. He snorted coldly. "Zhou Feiyu, you don't even have as much money as I do. What can you use to give Li Shihan happiness and a sense of security?"
Li Shihan's second uncle-in-law, Li Xingwen, was also somewhat displeased. He muttered, "This Zhou Feiyu can't make much money, but his temper sure is stubborn."
Wang Lei, who had followed Zhou Feiyu out of the teahouse, paused. He turned back and said to the two of them, "Young Master Zeng, and this Second Uncle-in-law, money isn't all it takes to pursue a girl. Besides, do you think you have that much money? Some people have far more money than you, yet they keep an extremely low profile. They simply don't talk about it."
After saying that, he strode away as well.
Inside the teahouse, only Li Xingwen and Zeng Xianbing remained, staring at each other. "What exactly was he talking about?"
