Background / History
Foundation and reputation
Shrek Academy was founded by its first dean, Cat Eagle Douluo Frank. Its original wooden school plaque, preserved in the Shrek Museum, is regarded as the source of all Shrek people. 163
The academy has endured for roughly twenty thousand years and is regarded by soul masters across the Federation—and even on the overseas continents—as a holy land. Its alumni network is exceptionally extensive: nearly every soul master academy on the continent is said to employ former Shrek cadets. 71 250
Its prestige also makes it politically sensitive. Federation authorities restrict most media from reporting on Shrek Academy or Shrek City, fearing its ability to rally public support. 261
Holy Spirit Cult attack and reconstruction
Shrek City and the academy were targeted in a coordinated Holy Spirit Cult attack. Yun Ming and the Sea God Pavilion Elders defended the academy while Ya Li activated its protective arrays; the Golden Ancient Tree ultimately sacrificed itself to protect Shrek. 377 378 389
The attack destroyed Sea God Pavilion and sank Sea God Island, leaving the academy devastated. 409 Graduates returned from across the continent to assist, including more than ten Titled Douluo. The Inner Courtyard was rebuilt within a day, while Shrek City recovered within a week and expanded under academy control. 388
Reforms
Following the reconstruction, Yun Ming initiated several commemorative reforms:
| Former name | New name | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Sea God Island | Golden Island | Honors the sacrificed Golden Ancient Tree |
| Sea God Pavilion | Dou God Pavilion | Encourages cadets to strive toward godhood |
| Sea God Lake | Blessing Spirit Lake | Honors the academy's fallen heroes |
| Surrounding forest | Blessing Spirit Forest | Accompanies Blessing Spirit Lake |
These reforms were enacted after the attack, alongside plans for a monument honoring fallen Shrek teachers, cadets, Tang Sect members, City Defense Army personnel, and civilians. 389
Yun Ming then retired and appointed Jing Shaoyu as Shrek Academy's president and the first Pavilion Master of the Dou God Pavilion. 389
Campus
Shrek City and the Inner City
Shrek Academy occupies Shrek City's original walled city, which now serves as the academy's inner city. The academy manages the entire city, while only recognized people and cadets may freely enter and leave the inner city. 165
The academy's independence extends to transportation: Federation-issued vehicle and mecha passes are invalid inside its grounds. Drivers must obtain a dedicated pass from the Shrek Academy Mecha Association. 153

Education and Admissions
Entrance examination
Shrek Academy's entrance examination consists of ten assessments worth a total of 100 points. Candidates require at least 60 points to pass, while only the top 150 are admitted to the Outer Courtyard. Candidates scoring above 85 may take an additional assessment for direct Inner Courtyard admission by presenting a completed One-Word Battle Armor. 166
The academy recruits only 200 new students each year, including fifty places reserved for candidates who fail to enter the Inner Courtyard. 166
Educational philosophy
Shrek Academy does not provide foundational courses to admitted cadets; its curriculum assumes students have already completed basic education before enrollment. Every course is directed toward producing Battle Armor Masters. 195
The academy operates under a strength-oriented culture. Class officer positions are determined through combat, and cadets are expected to compete actively rather than avoid challenges. 198 221
Battle armor and mecha training
- Becoming a One-Word Battle Armor Master before age thirty-five is the minimum requirement for Outer Courtyard graduation. 195
- Battle armor cultivation requires the integration of martial souls, battle armor, and supporting second professions. 195
- Shrek cadets are expected to own mechas and receive combat-mecha piloting instruction. 216
- The bottom five performers in the annual mecha-battle final examination are forcibly expelled. 216
Contribution Points
Contribution Points are the academy's internal currency and are stored on each cadet's Student Card. They can be exchanged for cultivation resources, access to facilities, and other academy services. 188 194
Student Life
- Student Cards serve as identity verification, access cards, and Contribution Point accounts; each card's number is unique and is never reclaimed, even if its holder leaves the academy. 188
- Fourth- through Sixth-Year Outer Courtyard cadets are generally required to rent residences within Shrek Inner City rather than live in the ordinary dormitory building. 188
- The academy's vacations differ from those of ordinary academies. 149
- Outer Courtyard teachers must themselves be Shrek Academy graduates. 165
- The academy's dining hall is noted for the quality of its ingredients and food. 196
Shrek Seven Monsters
The Shrek Seven Monsters are the academy's most renowned title. Every generation consists of exceptional soul masters recognized across the continent, and becoming one is a central ambition for many Shrek cadets. 249
After their victory over Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy, Jing Shaoyu's team was offered a place in the selection for the next generation of Shrek Seven Monsters, contingent on entering the Inner Courtyard. 258
A later generation led by Gu Yue successfully defended its title during a year-long challenge period against teams whose highest combat strength did not exceed Soul Saint. Gu Yue served as acting captain while Jing Shaoyu remained the acknowledged true captain. 343
