Who Is He (Part 1)

The helicopter soon landed nearby, and Jiang Yan Hai and the others boarded it. Just as he settled into his seat, the voice of the Red Star Engine suddenly rang out in his mind.

"Exercise mission activated: Eliminate no fewer than 100 enemies during the exercise. No restrictions on method. Reward upon completion: Special Skill ×1."

Hearing this mission, Jiang Yan Hai was utterly thrilled. He could no longer suppress the Coffin Board Skill. By now, Jiang Yan Hai understood just how powerful it was, and now he could get a second skill just by completing the mission!

Jiang Yan Hai took a deep breath and, without another word, removed the backpack from his back.

Everyone froze for a moment. Before they could ask anything, they heard several clicks as Jiang Yan Hai assembled the Type 10 Sniper Rifle, which had been dismantled into several parts.

After assembling it, Jiang Yan Hai took out camouflage netting and began wrapping his weapon in camouflage tape.

"Good. Everyone, get ready. Once we get off the helicopter, we'll probably be facing war!" Gong Jian took a deep breath and called out loudly.

He did not mention the exercise, even though all the soldiers knew it was one.

But every soldier understood that exercises were war!

Other than not being allowed to fire real bullets at the "enemy," there was no difference from actual war.

Once the helicopter landed, Jiang Yan Hai and the others immediately rushed toward the incident site. Much like what he had seen before, the convoy had already stopped there.

Four soldiers from the Blue Team's Special Operations Brigade had been "killed" and were currently squatting beside the vehicles.

This showed that Special Forces Soldiers were not invincible in large-scale warfare.

Over there, Gong Jian had already begun exchanging information with them. But after sweeping his gaze across the area, Jiang Yan Hai quietly positioned himself in a spot hidden from the crowd's line of sight.

Based on his observations, the area where the convoy was located was one of the easiest places to set up an ambush. Likewise, from this position, several directions offered the best observation points.

All of this information had come with the Coffin Board Skill's assistance. It was another application Jiang Yan Hai had discovered for the skill during the past few months of training.

Though it appeared to be merely an aiming-assistance skill, it was actually far more than that, because data could sometimes bring countless surprises!

For instance, data analysis could reveal which locations offered the clearest view of their position, and such places were often where enemies were most likely to lie in ambush.

Quietly raising his rifle, Jiang Yan Hai used the scope to observe those locations. If he remembered correctly, there were definitely Blue Team Special Forces observers there.

As far as he remembered from the TV drama, Fan Tian Lei of the Blue Team had always been able to observe them through a remote screen. For that to work, his people had to be lurking nearby, or at the very least, they had to have secretly placed optical surveillance equipment in the area.

Data began rapidly flowing through Jiang Yan Hai's field of vision. The sheer power of the Coffin Board Skill far exceeded his expectations.

For example, in a distant forest, even a sniper would find it difficult to spot another sniper who was fully camouflaged.

But the Coffin Board Skill could detect anomalies that did not follow natural patterns! Such as blades of grass broken in unusual ways, branches that had been moved by human hands, and so on!

The human eye could barely distinguish such differences, but the Coffin Board Skill could!

In Jiang Yan Hai's vision, the Coffin Board Skill had already detected a trail that should have been Li Er Niu's route while carrying Master Kang. The abnormal data stretching along that path was glaringly obvious, forming a clear trail.

Likewise, Jiang Yan Hai had spotted numerous places with abnormal data in the surrounding forest. According to the analysis, some had been left behind when the Special Operations Brigade charged out from those areas to assault Master Kang's convoy.

But some were not!

Taking a deep breath, Jiang Yan Hai finally found one suspicious spot. Through his scope, he had already located the other party.

After taking aim, Jiang Yan Hai did not hesitate. He drew a deep breath and sharply pulled the trigger.

A thunderous gunshot rang out. Gong Jian and everyone else who had been talking instinctively ducked. "What's going on?! Who fired?!"

Gong Jian shouted.

"It was me. Enemy spotted," Jiang Yan Hai said directly.

In the distance, a plume of blue smoke rose from the spot Jiang Yan Hai had targeted. It was clearly the signal flare indicating an enemy had been eliminated. The moment Jiang Yan Hai hit him, the laser system triggered the signal flare on his body, declaring him "dead."

"Quick! Go take a look!" Gong Jian froze for a moment, but everyone had already seen the blue smoke. He immediately gave the order.

Several soldiers from what had originally been the Guard Communications Company immediately rushed over. A few minutes later, they emerged from the woods with a soldier from the Special Operations Brigade.

Even after coming out, that soldier kept staring at Jiang Yan Hai.

"You guys are something else. We hadn't even pulled out yet," Gong Jian could not help teasing them. After all, his own soldiers had taken out a Special Forces Soldier!

Far away, perhaps dozens or even one or two hundred kilometers away, Fan Tian Lei looked at the screen and said to Chen Shan Ming beside him with a smile, "Hey, when do you think they'll find us before we find them?"

"That's hard to say." Chen Shan Ming sounded somewhat helpless.

On the screen before them, Gong Jian and the others could be seen with perfect clarity.

"Not bad, not bad. The game of cat and mouse is about to begin." Fan Tian Lei smiled.

The moment Fan Tian Lei finished speaking, the image before them flickered, and then the entire screen turned to static.

Fan Tian Lei froze, then immediately asked loudly, "What happened? Check it."

"Report! Our eyes have been confirmed sniped and killed," a soldier behind them called out.

Sniped and killed?! Fan Tian Lei froze.

"Good. Very good!" As if he had thought of something, a cold glint flashed through Fan Tian Lei's eyes as he spoke.

"Not bad. They really are soldiers trained by Gong Jian," Chen Shan Ming said beside him, unable to hide his surprise.

"Jiang Yan Hai, did you spot any more enemies?" Gong Jian asked.

"Report, no. They should have only left behind one observation post," Jiang Yan Hai answered loudly.

As soon as he finished speaking, Sixth Company happened to arrive by vehicle.

After they got out and Gong Jian exchanged information with them, both sides immediately spread out and began searching the forest.

Jiang Yan Hai did not mention that he knew Li Er Niu's retreat route while carrying Master Kang. Explaining it would have been too troublesome. He simply pursued in that direction himself. In any case, it was within their search area.
