Shock (Part 2)

After taking care of his own business, Jiang Yan Hai took a deep breath and prepared to continue his operation! He was still eleven people short of his target of one hundred.

His priority was completing the mission. Jiang Yan Hai would not involve himself in anything else. He knew exactly what kind of background He Chen Guang had—there had to be people watching from behind the scenes. This was reality!

So if he wanted to keep raising his rank, or rather, increase his permissions within the Red Star Engine, he could only do so by showing his capabilities.

The Red Star Engine was his greatest trump card. Everything else was empty.

The anti-sniper, anti-infiltration satellite system had been extremely successful, yet four people still had not been captured.

And almost all four of them were people Fan Tian Lei thought highly of. Fan Tian Lei's expression turned grave as well. At this point, he no longer cared whether people called it cheating.

"That's impossible! Are you sure there are still people who haven't been caught?" Tang Xin Yi's face was full of disbelief.

"Report!" A voice came from outside the command center. A guard was already standing at the entrance.

"Come in." Chen Shan Ming spoke.

Fan Tian Lei might ask about certain matters, but he would not take over command. That would have been going too far. Although Old Kang had already returned to the command center to report, Fan Tian Lei could not overstep his bounds.

"Report! Two of our three-man teams have been completely wiped out." The guard took a deep breath and handed over a document.

Chen Shan Ming and Fan Tian Lei both stiffened. Chen Shan Ming immediately walked over and asked, "Target One did it?"

"Yes! Four of them were killed by direct sniper fire, but not by the Type 10 large-caliber sniper rifle from before. It was a suppressed Type 88 Sniper Rifle that he had captured earlier but had never used." The guard took a deep breath and reported crisply.

"What about the other two?" Fan Tian Lei asked.

"Two against one, close-quarters combat." The guard spat out the words with some frustration.

"Close-quarters combat?" Fan Tian Lei and Chen Shan Ming were both dumbfounded!

Were you kidding them? The earlier sniping, Booby Traps, and so on could be attributed to the other party having talent! Being naturally suited for this kind of work. But now, it had been two against one in close-quarters combat, and they had still been taken down?

Who exactly was the Special Forces Soldier here? Him, or them?

"Can you confirm it?" Fan Tian Lei's expression was spectacular. He was not feeling well at all.

Fan Tian Lei and Chen Shan Ming exchanged a look. The two were at a loss for words. Throughout the entire exercise, Jiang Yan Hai had been improving constantly. They could both see it. That improvement was so outrageous that it made them afraid.

But neither of them expected that this was only the beginning.

Before this, Jiang Yan Hai had been avoiding them. Yet all of a sudden, he seemed to have completely changed his style and begun actively attacking their Special Forces soldiers.

By nighttime, another seven Special Forces soldiers had been taken out. All of them had died to sniper fire, but they still had not discovered where the enemy was.

"This kid... he's started actively hunting us." Chen Shan Ming's tone carried an emotion even he could not identify.

Pride? Bitterness? Or perhaps a sense of humiliated anger? Even he probably could not say for sure.

"Wait, have you all started actively guarding against him?" Fan Tian Lei suddenly thought of something and asked directly.

"How could we not? If we let him keep this up, we might as well just disband and retire." Chen Shan Ming laughed bitterly. They had already lost enough face. How could they not take this seriously?

"No, no, no. We've neglected the others. He's helping He Chen Guang and the others draw attention away. I need you to do something..." Fan Tian Lei took a deep breath and spoke in a low voice.

Chen Shan Ming froze for a moment, then immediately nodded without saying anything.

Beep. A special sound came through Jiang Yan Hai's earpiece, followed by a transmission from the special communications device he carried.

Jiang Yan Hai took a deep breath before releasing the trigger in his hand.

The exercise was over.

So Jiang Yan Hai stood up from his concealed position. The moment he rose, several guards not far away reacted violently and immediately raised their guns at him. "Who goes there?!"

"It's me! Jiang Yan Hai. The exercise is over." Jiang Yan Hai called out loudly.

They could not be blamed for being nervous, because Jiang Yan Hai had been lying in wait in a concealed corner within the Blue Army Special Forces headquarters.

When they heard the name Jiang Yan Hai, the soldiers aiming their guns at him froze for a moment. After recovering, their expressions became exceedingly strange.

It was impossible to tell whether their eyes held admiration, anger, or resentment. In the end... admiration won out.

There was nothing they could do—the other side's record was simply too savage. So savage that the Special Operations Brigade was about to lose all face!

Fan Tian Lei and Chen Shan Ming hurried over. Gong Jian and the others who had been captured were being held at this base as well.

However, Fan Tian Lei and Chen Shan Ming wore equally vivid expressions. After a long while, Chen Shan Ming looked toward Jiang Yan Hai's hiding place, then finally let out a breath and said with some frustration, "You brat, you're good!"

At the same time, he felt a lingering fear. Thankfully, the exercise had ended. If it hadn't... if he had accidentally been taken out, he would have been laughed at for the rest of his life.

Because the commander of the Special Operations Brigade had been assigned another mission and had not participated in the exercise, Fan Tian Lei was one of the brigade's highest-ranking officers, while Chen Shan Ming was practically second-in-command.

If two commanders in a row had been sniped by the enemy... they really would have had to disband.

For the first time, Chen Shan Ming and the others were glad the exercise had ended instead of feeling that they had not had enough fun.
