History
Conflict at Spirit Hall
Tang San initially believes the Star-Plucking Tower could become an ally against Spirit Hall and help avenge his mother. 5 Qin Shiyuan instead targets Xiao Wu, using Shi Nian’s illusions and his flying swords to force Tang Hao to choose whom to save. 6 7
Tang San attempts to rescue Xiao Wu with Tang Sect movement and control techniques, but the person he retrieves is a decoy. 13 Xiao Wu is subsequently killed, leaving Tang San consumed by hatred and determined to seek revenge. 14 17
City of Slaughter
Tang San enters the Hell Slaughter Arena and achieves eighty-six victories, becoming known as the Asura King. His methods grow increasingly ruthless; after one victory, he kills all nine opponents and stomps on their heads after their deaths. 48
He eventually faces Qin Shiyuan, known there as the Silver Masked Butcher. Believing the City of Slaughter’s restrictions on Soul Skills give him an advantage, Tang San attacks with his Clear Sky Hammer, hidden weapons, and the King of Hell’s Post. 50 52 Qin Shiyuan withstands every tactic, severely beats Tang San, and humiliates him by stepping on his head. 53 Tang Hao intervenes and removes Tang San from the city. 53 55
Tang Sect and the Heaven Dou Palace Coup
Tang San returns to Holy Spirit Village claiming to have united the Four Great Single-Attribute Clans under the Tang Sect. Tang Hao had secretly approached the clans first, apologized for his past actions, and accepted injuries to ensure Tang San’s success. 81
When Emperor Xue Ye is poisoned, Tang San joins Dugu Bo and Yang Wudi in attempting treatment at the imperial palace. He suspects Xue Qinghe’s involvement and signals for reinforcements when the group is attacked. 83 84 Qian Renxue reveals herself, easily defeats Tang San’s direct assault, and nearly kills him before Yang Wudi intervenes. 85 86
Tang San escapes with Dugu Bo and Yang Wudi after Tang Hao sacrifices his right arm and its inherited Spirit Bone to secure his route to the Clear Sky Sect. 92 93 Qin Shiyuan kills Yang Wudi and then destroys Tang Hao psychologically by revealing Tang San’s identity as an Outsider. 93 94 Tang Hao dies in the ensuing battle, asking Qin Shiyuan to kill Tang San. 95
Return to Shrek and Sea God Island
After the Tang Sect is destroyed by Star-Plucking Tower, Tang San secretly returns to Shrek Academy and deceives Yu Xiaogang into believing he remains badly injured and devastated by the sect’s loss. 153 154 He reveals that he has reached level sixty-one and seeks a way to add Spirit Rings to his Clear Sky Hammer, but Yu Xiaogang warns that doing so prematurely could shatter his Sea of Spirit. 155
Yu Xiaogang instead directs Tang San and the remaining Shrek members toward Sea God Island for dangerous training. 156 157 On the island, Tang San recognizes that he cannot defeat Qin Shiyuan directly and considers provoking a conflict between Qin Shiyuan and Sea God Island’s guardians. 184 185
Death
Tang San and the remaining Shrek members become trapped on Sea God Island as Qin Shiyuan’s forces occupy the island’s strongest defenders. 194 Left alone on the Holy Steps, Tang San forces himself upward under immense pressure while Qin Shiyuan pretends to struggle beside him. 198
Qin Shiyuan reveals Tang San’s identity as an Outsider, his use of the Mysterious Heaven Skill, and his plagiarism of Tang Sect concealed weapons. 199 Qin Shiyuan finally reveals that he is also a transmigrator, then kills Tang San with a single sword strike. 200
