Background

Tang San was originally an outer-sect disciple of the Tang Sect in Shu, Central Plains. Skilled in hidden weapons, he stole the sect’s supreme manual, the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, before being pursued by its elders and jumping from a cliff. His consciousness subsequently entered the body of an infant in Douluo Continent. 179

In his new life, Tang San was born to Tang Hao and the Blue Silver Emperor, Ah Yin. His Blue Silver Grass was not ordinary: it carried the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline and was later identified as a God-level spirit of higher quality than the Clear Sky Hammer. 180 184

He grew up alongside Xiao Wu and studied under Yu Xiaogang at Shrek Academy. After Tang Hao was defeated by Duanyu Fan and died from his wounds, Tang San learned of his Clear Sky Sect heritage from his uncle Tang Xiao. He left Shrek to receive training at Clear Sky Sect, intending to return for the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. 112 119

Appearance

At his first appearance, Tang San was described as a plain-looking, dark-skinned boy in simple blue coarse clothing. Though easily overlooked in a crowd, he carried a confidence that stood out from his otherwise unremarkable appearance. 105

  • Plain facial features and darker complexion than his peers. 105
  • Wore simple blue coarse cloth when traveling with Shrek. 105
  • In the Level 99 illusion, he had long blue-green hair and a tall, upright build. 212

Personality

Tang San was cautious and observant in battle. During Shrek’s match with Canghui Academy, he recognized that the opposing team’s provocations were intended to lure Shrek into the range of a prepared trap and prevented his teammates from rushing in. 148

He was also a capable battlefield commander, directing Shrek’s formations against threats such as the Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent and the Divine Wind Team. 106 166

After Xiao Wu’s sacrifice and Tang Hao’s death, revenge against Duanyu Fan became his overriding motive. He concealed this hatred around others, cultivated and forged a hidden weapon over two years, and was prepared to die for a chance to assassinate Duanyu Fan. 119 149 173

Tang San increasingly resented his Blue Silver Grass, regarding it as inferior to the Clear Sky Hammer because of its vulnerability to elemental counters. He became proud and reckless after publicly revealing his Twin Martial Souls. 150 167

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possessed the Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer, making him a Twin Martial Soul master.

  • His Blue Silver Grass descended from the Blue Silver Emperor and was capable of far greater growth than normal Blue Silver Grass. 180 184
  • His Clear Sky Hammer came from Tang Hao’s Clear Sky Sect bloodline. 119
  • He initially had no soul rings attached to the Clear Sky Hammer when he revealed it during the tournament. 166
  • He struggled with the unresolved burden of cultivating Twin Martial Souls. 166

Blue Silver Grass

Tang San primarily fought as a control-type Soul Master before revealing his hammer.

  • Blue Silver Entanglement — Restrained targets with Blue Silver Grass vines and could pull allies out of danger. 149 167
  • Spider Web Restraint — A web-based control skill used after an enemy defense was broken. 145
  • Blue Silver Cage — Created an enclosure around a target, though fire and wind opponents could destroy or escape it. 149 166
  • His Blue Silver Grass was particularly vulnerable to fire and ice-based opponents during the Elite Tournament. 150

Clear Sky Hammer Techniques

Tang Xiao trained Tang San in Clear Sky Sect techniques after bringing him back to the sect. 119

  • Hao Tian Nine Secret Skills — Force-exertion techniques used alongside his hammer attacks. 166
  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer — A successive hammer technique in which each strike grows stronger. 111 166
  • Hammer Shaking Heaven and Earth — A combined attack performed with Tang Tian, Tang Hu, and Tang Long. 174
  • Great Sumeru Hammer / Ring Detonation — A Clear Sky Sect ultimate technique known to Tang San, though its use is documented for Tang Hao and Tang Xiao rather than Tang San’s actual battle record. 111 175

Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record Techniques

Tang San retained the knowledge of the Tang Sect’s Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record after transmigrating. 179

  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — A cultivation method that improves soul power cultivation and recovery. 182
  • Purple Demon Eyes — An eye technique used to observe opponents, though it could not keep pace with sufficiently fast attacks. 174
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — A movement technique used for rapid evasions and repositioning. 149 166
  • Mysterious Jade Hand — Strengthened his hands enough to receive attacks from weapon spirits, though it was damaged by Huo Wu’s fire attacks. 149

Soul Bone Skill

Tang San inherited the Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone from Tang Hao. 145 167

  • Spring Breeze Blows Again — A healing skill capable of treating Tang San and restoring severely injured allies. 149 167
  • The ability consumed soul power and could not be used when Tang San’s reserves were exhausted. 168

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Blood Bodhi — A powerful single-target hidden weapon Tang San forged over two years as his planned means of killing Duanyu Fan. 149 173
  • Bloodstone Bracelet — Bracelet containing the Blood Bodhi hidden weapon. 173
  • Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record — Written record of Tang Sect cultivation methods, hidden weapons, diagrams, and assembly instructions; Tang San surrendered a rewritten copy before his death. 181
  • Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone — Inherited soul bone containing Spring Breeze Blows Again. 167

Relationships

  • Xiao Wu — His childhood companion and sworn sister. Tang San promised to protect her regardless of her soul beast identity; her sacrifice for Hu Liena became the central cause of his hatred toward Duanyu Fan. 112
  • Tang Hao — Father. Tang Hao’s defeat, lost arm, and eventual death drove Tang San to join Clear Sky Sect and seek revenge on Spirit Hall. 110 119
  • Ah Yin / Blue Silver Emperor — Mother. Tang San only learned her identity while imprisoned; touching her true body gave him peace before his death. 180 181
  • Tang Xiao — Paternal uncle and Clear Sky Sect Master. Tang Xiao brought Tang San to Clear Sky Sect, trained him, and supported his assassination attempt against Duanyu Fan. 119 173
  • Yu Xiaogang — Former teacher. Tang San initially respected him but later stated that he believed Yu Xiaogang had used him to validate his theories. 119 180
  • Duanyu Fan — Principal enemy. Tang San sought revenge for Xiao Wu and Tang Hao, briefly cooperated in a staged attack during the tournament, then was imprisoned and coerced into surrendering the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. 175 179 181
  • Tang Tian, Tang Hu, and Tang Long — Clear Sky Sect disciples and tournament teammates. They fought alongside Tang San and were killed while Duanyu Fan pressured him in prison. 151 179

Story Role / Major Arcs

Star Dou Forest

Tang San first encountered Duanyu Fan at an inn near Star Dou Forest. Duanyu Fan initially protected Tang San and Xiao Wu from the Titan Giant Ape, prompting Tang San to thank him and recognize the extraordinary strength of Spirit Hall’s Holy Son. 105 107

The encounter ended in disaster for Tang San. Duanyu Fan killed the Titan Giant Ape, exposed Xiao Wu as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast in human form, and forced her to sacrifice herself for Hu Liena. Tang San survived because Duanyu Fan chose to spare him, but he vowed revenge. 109 112

Return to Clear Sky Sect

Tang Xiao arrived at Shrek Academy after Tang Hao’s death and revealed Tang San’s family background. Tang San chose to return to Clear Sky Sect for training, while maintaining his plan to compete in the Elite Tournament two years later. 119

All-Continent Elite Tournament

Tang San entered the tournament as a Level 42 Soul Ancestor and led Shrek’s strategies. Shrek’s early losses exposed the shortcomings of its coordination and the elemental weaknesses of Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass. 145 150

Against the Divine Wind Team, frustration led Tang San to discard his Blue Silver Grass and reveal the Clear Sky Hammer publicly. The display established him as a Twin Martial Soul master, but also exposed that his hammer lacked soul rings. 166 167

He used Spring Breeze Blows Again to restore Tang Tian, Tang Hu, and Tang Long after Feng Xiaotian severely injured them. 167

Assassination Attempt and Imprisonment

Tang San planned to assassinate Duanyu Fan with Blood Bodhi during the tournament finals. The apparent injury to Duanyu Fan was part of a staged performance involving Tang San, Duanyu Fan, and Hu Liena, which gave Spirit Hall cause to capture the Clear Sky Sect and Shrek members. 174 175

Tang San remained defiant after his capture, believing Duanyu Fan had finally been defeated. He was taken to Spirit Hall’s dungeon alongside Tang Xiao, Yu Xiaogang, and his Clear Sky Sect companions. 176 179

Death

Duanyu Fan revealed Tang San’s Tang Sect past and demanded the Mysterious Heaven Skill, Purple Demon Eyes, and hidden-weapon knowledge. Tang San initially refused despite the deaths of Tang Tian, Tang Hu, and Tang Long. 179

After Duanyu Fan threatened the Blue Silver Emperor and Tang Xiao confirmed that she was Tang San’s mother, Tang San gave up the rewritten Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. He then chose to end his own life, severing his meridians and heart meridian after bidding farewell to Xiao Wu, Tang Hao, and his fallen companions. 180 181

True-Illusion World

A posthumous illusory version of Tang San appeared during Duanyu Fan’s trial. This Tang San had reached Level 99 and fought with an evolved Blue Silver Grass spirit alongside his surviving allies. 212

After Xiao Wu was killed again, the illusionary Tang San made a transaction with the Great God of Darkness and temporarily reached Level 100. He was ultimately defeated and destroyed by Duanyu Fan and Bibi Dong’s Martial Soul Fusion Skill, Great Dark Heaven. 214 215
