The library.
Li Weide and Tom found a table by the window.
The quill in Tom's hand flew across the parchment, making a soft scratching sound.
For him, the Transfiguration essay was still very simple.
Of course, it would have been better if the person beside him were not frantically flipping through books and making bursts of noise to distract him...
"Say, could you keep it down? You're flipping pages so fast—what can you possibly see besides messing up my essay?" Tom said irritably.
Rather than stopping, Li Weide flipped through the book even faster.
"What do you know? This is called quantum reading!"
"What the hell is that?"
"Quantum... never mind. Can you stop bothering me? I'm reading!"
Tom tossed down his quill. "Who exactly is bothering whom?!"
Screw this damn essay! He wasn't writing it anymore! He couldn't write it at all! Whoever wanted to write it could write it!
"Alright, I'm done reading. Take your time with your essay." Li Weide closed the notes Professor Slughorn had given him.
Thanks to his formidable memory, after carefully going through them once, he had already memorized all the important parts.
"Where are you going?" Tom asked with a frown.
"I've finished reading, so naturally I need to get on with other things."
"You're not writing your essay?"
"What's the rush? Isn't it due next week? If you don't rush your homework at the very last minute, how can you claim you ever went to school?"
Watching Li Weide's retreating figure leave the library, Tom sighed helplessly. "What the hell..."
There was no doubt that Li Weide had something on his mind. Their conversation just now had been nothing more than absent-minded perfunctory replies, completely meaningless.
Tom suspected that Li Weide himself did not even know what he had said.
