Biodata

History

Nord founded the Dermon Kingdom in Beron City after returning from his victory over the Himan Kingdom. Before ten thousand soldiers and the city’s civilians, he declared himself king and named the new state the Dermon Kingdom. He simultaneously abolished the former Besser Duchy’s nobility and guaranteed that commoners would answer to no lord except the king. 386

In its early administration, the kingdom was divided into five provinces: Jone in the south, Molly in the west, Beren in the center, Divin in the east, and Twain in the north. Nord relied on major provincial cities to establish control while the new government faced a shortage of qualified personnel. 388

After two years of internal development, the kingdom had expanded agricultural production through irrigation canals, mills, roads, and other infrastructure. Its workshops processed raw materials from the Amon Mountains and, after the annexation of the Himan Kingdom, benefited from Himan artisans and manufacturing capacity. 405 406

The Eurilo Kingdom’s demand for grain and subsequent invasion began the Dermon–Eurilo War. After defeating Eurilo’s invading army, Nord launched a northern campaign that rapidly occupied Eurilo territory. Eurilo Ruixin City ultimately fell when fifty thousand Besser Mercenaries inside the city defected to Dermon and enabled its army to seize the gates. 405 425 450 451

Following Eurilo’s fall, Dermon forces conquered the Calvi United Kingdom and Korkilva Kingdom. Marco’s Calvi campaign benefited from repeated mercenary defections and popular support among commoners, while Ryman defeated Korkilva’s Heavy Infantry and captured Barana City. By the sixth year of the Eagle Calendar, Dermon occupied most of the Norsen Continent. 470 471 473 478

After seven years of stabilization, the kingdom answered the Sinne Kingdom’s request for aid against the Centaurs. Nord led 150,000 troops in support; after the decisive battle against the Centaur army, he proclaimed the Dermon Kingdom an empire. 479 482 487

Government and Society

Centralized Rule

All political authority is concentrated in Nord, unlike the decentralized feudal systems of the other continental kingdoms. Royal decrees can be implemented throughout Dermon territory, a level of control Prince Granther considers greater than that of the former Aresian Emperor. 425

Commoner Policy

• Former Besser nobles were stripped of their status at the kingdom’s founding; only nobles recognized and conferred by Nord retain noble rank. 386
• Nobility is awarded for merit rather than inherited territorial authority. Nord granted knightly titles to 50,000 soldiers after the continental campaigns. 478
• Former nobles from conquered states are treated as ordinary citizens and frequently resist Dermon rule through covert disruption; the government counters them through officials and popular support. 478

Public Order

Security Squads patrol roads with black hounds, suppress banditry, and provide security for travelers. Their instructors come from the army, and their training matches military standards, making the squads a reserve force for future expansion. 404

Integration of Conquered Territories

Dermon administration standardizes the takeover of newly occupied cities through three priorities: public order, administration, and taxation. This model was developed during the conquest of northern Eurilo territory and later applied to Eurilo Ruixin City and other annexed regions. 459

• The army relies on centralized mobilization, standing forces, workshops, trained officers, and Security Squad reserves. 404 424
