Zhang Chen was not angered by Shen Ling's furious cursing. He merely watched quietly as Shen Ling and Zhang Gaoqiu put on their act.

"Little Sister, do not be rude. Hurry and apologize to Zhang Chen." Zhang Gaoqiu reprimanded Shen Ling. "If you continue being rude, then you and I need never meet again. I will leave the Shen family at once and never return."

Upon hearing Zhang Gaoqiu's words, Shen Ling strode angrily to the table. After shooting Zhang Chen a glare, she sat down, her face full of stubborn defiance.

Zhang Gaoqiu looked at Shen Ling and repeated, "Shen Ling!"

His tone was heavier this time. Shen Ling's face was filled with grievance, but she ultimately had no choice but to bow to Zhang Chen. "Greetings, Elder Cousin. I was rude before. I apologize to you."

"That is more like it! We are old relatives, one family. We ought to get along peacefully." A smile hung on Zhang Gaoqiu's face as he looked at Shen Ling with smiling eyes.

"I called you here today because there is something I must make clear to you. Since you have a marriage contract with Zhang Chen, the relationship between you and me was a mistake. Everything between us ends here. Do not continue entangling yourself with me in the future."

"What did you say? You want to make a clean break with me?" Shen Ling glared furiously at Zhang Gaoqiu.

"It is not a clean break. It is simply returning everything to its proper track. From now on, you are only my cousin," Zhang Gaoqiu said.

Anger appeared on Shen Ling's face. "And you still say it is not a clean break? You know how I feel about you."

"Enough! Do not bring up the past again." Zhang Gaoqiu waved a
