Profound Water Hall

The following afternoon, Xu Jie took Huo Yuhao and Dugu Lu for a stroll through Shrek City. From their leisurely demeanor, they seemed to be in quite good moods, especially Xu Jie and Huo Yuhao, whose faces were full of smiles.

A good homeroom teacher really was the best. Zhou Yi had been occupied and absent from class all day yesterday, but the moment she arrived in the classroom this morning, she gave Wu Feng, who had questioned Wang Yan yesterday, a vicious scolding. She was fiercely protective of her own students.

The original students of Class One had trembled in fear at the sight of Zhou Yi losing her temper. However, when they recalled that they had been ready to make a move against Wu Feng and the others during yesterday's conflict, though they had not actually acted, their trembling lessened somewhat.

Ning Tian and Nanmen Yuner, who had spoken up for Wu Feng, were thrown out as well. But what made Xu Jie and Huo Yuhao happiest was that Dai Huabin, that brain-dead idiot, seemingly wanted to curry favor with the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect, and ended up getting thrown out together with Zhu Lu.

Of course, that was not enough. The real kicker was that Dai Huabin, that dumbass, even made threats as he was being thrown out.

He said Zhou Yi had no right to treat him like that. Well, that immediately set off Zhou Yi's temper.

It was only because Teacher Zhou lacked the authority to expel Core Disciples that those five had not already left Shrek Academy.

"Xu Jie, are you sick? Why the hell are you suddenly laughing?" The abrupt laughter startled Dugu Lu and Huo Yuhao. They also felt satisfied, but they were nowhere near as uninhibited as Xu Jie.

Huo Yuhao and Dugu Lu hurried after Xu Jie. Once they picked up their pace, it took them only ten minutes to arrive before the largest medicine shop in Shrek City.

Xu Jie raised his head and looked at the high-hanging plaque. Three large characters were written across it in bold, sweeping strokes: Profound Water Hall. He asked Dugu Lu beside him, "Lu, are you sure this is the largest herbal medicine shop in the city?"

"Yeah. There isn't a larger herbal medicine shop than this one." Dugu Lu nodded.

Looking at Profound Water Hall's lavish decor, Xu Jie could not help feeling a little uneasy. He said to Huo Yuhao beside him, "Yuhao, give me the Storage Soul Guidance Device. Let me see how much money we have left."

He held out his right hand and waited for quite a while, but nothing was placed in it. When he turned his head, he immediately saw Dugu Lu looking at him like he was an idiot. Ignoring Dugu Lu, he turned both his body and head until Huo Yuhao finally came into view.

She held a child who looked only three or four years old in her arms, and the child had golden hair as well.

The child hiding in the woman's arms seemed to notice Huo Yuhao's gaze. He poked out a small dust-covered face and examined Huo Yuhao. When Huo Yuhao saw that fair little face, he could not help offering him a kind smile.

Xu Jie did not say anything further. He understood that Huo Yuhao saw himself in that mother and child. He stepped forward and removed the Storage Soul Guidance Device from around Huo Yuhao's neck.

"Brother Jie..." Huo Yuhao was just about to speak when Xu Jie shook his head to signal for him to be quiet. He poured Soul Power into the Storage Soul Guidance Device in his hand, and several Silver Soul Coins and more than a dozen Copper Soul Coins appeared in his palm.

Xu Jie felt that was too little, so he took out another Gold Soul Coin. Profound Water Hall had two floors. The first sold pills, while the second sold medicinal herbs. The second floor was somewhat smaller than the first. Most of Profound Water Hall's customers came to buy finished pills, while only a small number purchased medicinal herbs directly.

Most of that group of customers were pharmacists, and nearly all of them preferred quiet. Arranging them on the second floor, away from disturbances, was also in line with their preferences.

The two followed the attendant up the stairs to the second floor, where a rich medicinal fragrance greeted them. Xu Jie took a deep breath, distinguishing which medicinal herbs each scent in the air came from.

Upon entering the second floor, they found a Medicine Room for storing herbs directly ahead. Beside it stood rows of metal cabinets with glass fronts, filled with all kinds of plants that looked as though they had just been harvested.

"What are those?" Xu Jie looked at the metal cabinets, his tone full of curiosity.

"Oh, those are Life Energy Cabinets we had custom-made at great expense by the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineering Academy. They keep medicinal herbs fresh," the attendant explained.

Life Energy Cabinets? Weren't those just refrigerators? Had Soul Tools already developed to this extent?!

Curiosity was clear in Xu Jie's eyes, while Dugu Lu beside him simply swept his gaze across the second floor indifferently. Clearly, he had seen such things many times before.
