Arc 13Cassandra and the Ocean Book
Alice investigated mysteries aboard the Golden Dream, encountered a woman carrying an ocean-blue book, and began uncovering how Cassandra’s name was being used to manipulate people’s Fate. The arc ended with Alice explaining the swindle to Selwyn and leaving him in the alley.
- Edwina introduced Alice to Death’s Key and her collection, where Alice examined artifacts, read the unfinished Groselle’s Travels, and shared fragments of her memories of the world before the First Epoch.
- Alice stayed aboard the Golden Dream, learned about Edwina’s abilities, and confessed she had tried to eat a book for its knowledge.
- At a Bayam Beyonder gathering, Alice became fascinated by a masked woman’s ocean-blue book and sold her a clue to the Cryptologist potion formula, then secretly followed her and recognized her words as a Prophecy.
- Alice learned that Mr. Fool’s birthday was approaching, prepared him a diary gift, and received a warning from her reclaimed Uniqueness that she recognized as a message from her past self.
- Alice answered a young man’s prayer and found a paper bearing her honorific name, but her attempt to trace its origins was blocked by the sound of turning pages.
- Alice asked Edwina about Misfortune Phantoms and Crow-Shadow Serpents, learning the information she needed for her potion’s Main Ingredient.
- Alice joined Klein’s effort to find a mermaid and arranged to meet a Beyonder researching Hybridization Technology, then encountered Selwyn, who mistook her for Cassandra.
- Selwyn told Alice that a Soothsayer had charged him 1,000 pounds to change his Fate and led him into gambling and potion-buying, and Alice identified the book-carrying woman as a swindler using Cassandra’s name and vanished.
