Arc 27The Key of Light

Alice helped the City of Silver reach the Giant King’s Court, where the group confronted Sasrir and recovered the Blasphemy Slate before Alice became the Goddess of Fate. As Alice slept and awaited her birth, Klein prepared to deceive Fate, pursue Zaratul, and seek the Evernight Goddess’s help against the dangers of his advancement.

  • Klein agreed to bring the other cities’ residents to the City of Silver, and Lovia returned with the Black Knight Potion Formula and news of a hidden path to the sea.
  • Alice and Klein led the City of Silver expedition through the Giant King’s Court, where they defeated Eunyuni and faced Sasrir in the palace.
  • Alice took the Blasphemy Slate from Sasrir, then escaped Amon’s attempt to seize it as Klein returned the survivors to the City of Silver.
  • Alice revealed the City of Silver’s Sealed Artifact was the corpse of Omebella, and she explained the divine conflict to Colin Iliad before declaring herself an ally of the Evernight Goddess.
  • Klein advanced to Miracle Invoker and returned with the survivors to the outside world, while Alice confronted Ouroboros and Will Auceptin over Fate.
  • Alice used the Chaos Sea and the River of Fate to become the Wheel of Fortune, while Klein noticed that people were forgetting events and wondered whether she would return as herself.
  • Alice slept until before her birth, joked with Klein and the Tarot Club about becoming the Goddess of Light, and learned that Will had restarted as Daily and Dunn’s child.
  • Alice warned Klein that Adam was nearing godhood and the God of Combat had fallen, while Klein sought the Evernight Goddess’s help to conceal his ring and prepare to hunt Zaratul.
Chapters 667–691 Vol. 7 Read

Ch. 667New Path

Klein and Alice stayed in the City of Silver while Derrick and Hilmon prepared for advancement, and Lovia returned with news of a route to the seashore. Colin arranged for Klein to help open the Giant King's Court in exchange for the City of Silver sheltering the other cities' residents until they could all leave together.

  • Klein agreed with Colin Iliad to bring the residents of the other cities to the City of Silver before opening the door and leading everyone out together.
  • Derrick sought the materials and help he needed to advance to Unshadowed, while Hilmon prepared to advance to Silver Knight.
  • Lovia returned from Afternoon Town after Alice had spent nearly two months in the City of Silver, and Alice joked with Klein about her causing more of a commotion than the Fool.
  • Lovia told Colin that her team had found a hidden path to the seashore but could not cross its illusory ocean, and she revealed that she had obtained the Black Knight Potion Formula and ingredients.
  • Colin planned for Lovia, Derrick, and Hilmon to advance before the City of Silver explored the Giant King's Court, and Klein offered to help open its gates in exchange for sheltering the other cities' residents.
  • Klein told Lovia that the gates' corruption required the Fool's blessing to withstand, then left Colin and Lovia to discuss the plan.

Ch. 668Departure

Alice and Klein helped bring the gathered residents to the City of Silver, where Alice discovered that an Angel of the Fate pathway had taken Sealed Artifacts connected to Fate. The City of Silver expedition departed for the Giant King's Court, but Alice realized after they had walked away from the city that she could have transported them there directly.

  • Lovia advanced to Black Knight, and Klein brought the gathered residents back to the City of Silver by having them hold onto one another.
  • Alice learned that Moon City and another settlement had lost Sealed Artifacts connected to the Fate pathway, and she suspected Will was nearby.
  • Alice, Klein, Colin Iliad, Derrick, Lovia, and the others prepared to depart for the Giant King's Court the next morning.
  • The City of Silver residents gave the expedition a silent farewell, and Colin Iliad led the group beyond the city walls.
  • After the party had walked for several hundred meters, Alice realized she could have transported everyone directly to their destination.

Ch. 669White Hair

Alice warned the City of Silver team that its non-Demigod members could die without helping, then accompanied the others up the mountain to the Giant King's Court. When Klein used a Historical Projection to carry Groselle's Ashes and the key onward, Alice intervened as the Chaos Sea affected him, and the chapter ended with her discovering that she had grown white hair.

  • Alice urged the Chief to leave the non-Demigod members behind, and the Chief agreed to have them wait outside the dangerous area for a signal.
  • Alice, Klein, Lovia, and the Chief led the team up the mountain by way of the Forest of Decay and the Barren Tunnel, where they found a broken elevator.
  • Klein went aside to pray for the Fool's blessing, while Alice told the City of Silver team a fanciful story about the Fool being shy and receiving Demigod-level psychiatric treatment.
  • Klein returned with Groselle's Ashes and a giant black iron Key, then sent a Historical Projection carrying them onward; Alice had the non-Demigods close their eyes and watched Klein's shadow flee after the Chaos Sea submerged him.
  • Alice tried to reach Klein through an illusory silver river, severed the connection when the Chaos Sea overwhelmed it, and was helped by Castle of Origin as the ocean retreated.
  • Alice opened her eyes, noticed a silver-white strand, and realized she had grown white hair.

Ch. 670"Shyness."

After Klein temporarily restored his spirit with a shy Virtual Personality, he and Alice joined the team to enter the Giant King's Court. They discovered the route across the cloud sea was impassable, then defeated the Silver Knights at the front gate and continued onward with one Knight following Klein.

  • Klein used a Historical Projection of Justice Audrey to give himself a temporary Virtual Personality, and Alice discovered her hair had turned partly silver-white.
  • Alice warned the Chief to stop when she foresaw the path collapsing into dark water, and the team confirmed that objects could not cross the cloud sea by throwing, flying, or teleporting.
  • Klein suggested taking the front gate, and the team returned to the enormous stairs leading to the city walls.
  • Klein summoned Reinette Tinekerr with a gold coin, and she transformed one Silver Knight into a rabbit that Klein then destroyed.
  • The Chief asked Klein about the Knight following him, and Alice advised everyone not to speak to Klein until he found his shadow.

Ch. 671Little En, Little You, Little Ni

Alice, Klein, and the Silver City team opened the Giant King's gate and faced a Dark Angel-corrupted Eunyuni and Klein's shadow. Alice thwarted their attack on Klein, but the group remained before the Giant King's palace with the threat unresolved.

  • Klein's Silver Knight opened the towering gate, revealing the stairs and palaces leading to the Giant King's residence.
  • Colin Iliad, Lovia, and Klein's Silver Knight confronted two figures that could not leave their area, while Alice identified one as Eunyuni, Klein's former marionette.
  • Eunyuni transformed and conjured an illusion of the City of Silver, but Colin Iliad recognized it as false, and Alice warned that Sasrir favored the Secrets Suppliant pathway.
  • Eunyuni's heads displayed the powers of the Sun, and Alice questioned his identity and why he was not called Eve.
  • Eunyuni used Alice's questions to distract her and sent an illusory storm at Klein, but Alice pulled him aside and restrained the attack until it exploded.
  • Alice protected Klein from the storm's aftermath, while Derrick, Colin Iliad, and Lovia defended themselves; Klein reminded Alice that his Virtual Personality would have protected him.

Ch. 672"Fair"

Alice stayed out of the direct fight against Eunyuni’s forces while manipulating luck and the battlefield to help the City of Silver. Klein and the others held their ground, but the Spectator Eunyuni began preparing a mental attack on Klein.

  • Alice urged Colin Iliad to act, and he exposed the elderly Eunyuni’s phantom before striking his true form as it transformed into a Dragon.
  • Alice used falling rubble to disrupt the enemy while Klein restrained his shadow, Lovia fought the younger Eunyuni, and Derrick faced Eunyuni’s main body.
  • Eunyuni’s main body wounded Colin Iliad with a Spirit-Flesh Blade, but Derrick pierced it with an Undarkened Spear; Alice then rewound events, restoring Colin’s arm and leaving Eunyuni’s wings damaged.
  • Derrick used his Notary ability to strengthen purification against Eunyuni, but the younger Eunyuni negated the effect and Eunyuni corrupted the incoming Undarkened Spears.
  • Alice reversed her interference with Klein’s luck and secretly improved it, helping him gain an advantage over his shadow while his Silver Knight marionette kept the Spectator Eunyuni occupied.
  • The Spectator Eunyuni began condensing a Mental Plague Source Seed to attack Klein, and Alice noticed his attempt.

Ch. 673Wrong Path

Klein and Alice defeated Eunyuni and the shadow, then prepared to enter the Giant King's Court with Colin Iliad, Lovia, and Derrick. As they went inside, Ouroboros followed the Call of Fate toward the court, while Will Auceptin chose to head east instead.

  • Klein let the Mental Plague infect him, feigned madness, and relied on Alice to conceal and reverse its effects while his Silver Knight marionette destroyed Eunyuni's Mind Dragon and used up the shadow's Paper Figurine Substitutes.
  • Alice prevented the shadow from escaping, and Klein joined Colin Iliad, Lovia, and Derrick to defeat Eunyuni's true body and two avatars.
  • The group recuperated briefly, then Klein tested the Giant King's Court with a crow and found he lost contact with it; he prepared the Staff of Stars to test whether projections and marionettes would be affected by the place's influence.
  • Alice warned Colin Iliad, Lovia, and Derrick that the way ahead was dangerous, and they followed her with Klein into the Giant King's Court.
  • Ouroboros told Will Auceptin that he had foreseen them both dying but still followed the Call of Fate toward the Giant King's Court; Styver departed separately to inspect believers, and Will continued east.

Ch. 674Inside the Hall

Alice, Klein, Lovia, Colin Iliad, and Derrick entered the shadow-covered palace to confront Dark Angel Sasrir and find a way out. Klein’s approach to the throne triggered a shadow apparition that revealed his Castle of Origin aura, while the group learned Sasrir’s left hand and a Blasphemy Slate lay beyond the throne.

  • Alice warned Lovia that entering the hall would kill her, but Lovia went in anyway, and the group followed her inside.
  • Alice told everyone to lie down and let the shadows swallow them; they reappeared in another palace before Sasrir’s throne.
  • The shadow curtain vanished to reveal Sasrir seated on the throne, and Alice identified his left hand and a Blasphemy Slate as lying beyond it.
  • Lovia sent a Grazed Devil to scout, but sacred lightning destroyed it, so Klein approached the throne instead.
  • As Klein advanced, the shadows formed brass-colored eyes and an apparition that changed through his identities before displaying the gray-white mist of the Castle of Origin.
  • The eyes spoke, identifying the aura as belonging to the Castle of Origin.

Ch. 675Entrance

Alice seized the first Blasphemy Slate from beneath Sasrir’s wings and helped the others purify the Dark Angel evil spirit, while realizing that her identity might be fused with the Key of Light. As the battle ended, Amon entered the projection of the Giant King’s Residence, Ouroboros approached the hall, and Will Auceptin fled east to avoid them.

  • Alice touched the Blasphemy Slate, resisted Sasrir’s pull with the True Creator’s help, and escaped with the slate in her arms.
  • Alice explained that Sasrir was an Angel-level evil spirit without the Chaos Sea, calming Colin Iliad, Derrick, Lovia, and Klein as they fought Him.
  • Alice noticed her hair had turned completely silver-white and considered whether the Key of Light’s will had shaped her personality and identity.
  • Alice watched the others purify Sasrir and held the Blasphemy Slate tightly as the shadows disintegrated.
  • Amon entered the projection of the Giant King’s Residence as the Chaos Sea’s power receded, while Ouroboros sensed something and walked toward the hall.
  • Will Auceptin continued collecting Beyonder Characteristics and headed for the easternmost part of the Land Abandoned by God to avoid Amon and Alice.

Ch. 676Praise the Goddess

Alice escaped Amon with the Blasphemy Slate and returned to the City of Silver with Klein and Colin Iliad. After learning that the City of Silver’s Sealed Artifact contained the corpse of the Giant Queen Omebella, Alice realized the danger surrounding the Divine War and pledged herself as an ally of the Evernight Goddess.

  • Amon appeared and tried to take the Blasphemy Slate, but Alice used it to attack him and then escaped into the River of Fate while Klein took Colin Iliad and the others to the City of Silver.
  • Alice rejoined Klein and the City of Silver survivors, where Colin Iliad thanked her by kneeling and Klein joined him; Alice stopped Lovia and Derrick from kneeling too.
  • Alice told Colin Iliad that the survivors could leave for the outside world after resting and preparing, and said a Divine War was underway there.
  • Colin Iliad revealed that the City of Silver’s Sealed Artifact, Gift of the Land, was the corpse of the Giant Queen Omebella and caused the city’s curse and abundance.
  • Alice connected the revelation to the Mother Goddess of Depravity and the conflict between Feysac and Loen, then declared, “Praise the Goddess,” and resolved to be the Evernight Goddess’s steadfast ally.

Ch. 677Fooling Fate

Alice told the Chief about the gods, Rose Redemption, and the Three Gods, then showed Klein the Blasphemy Slate’s advancement formulas. The chapter ended with Alice warning Klein that the Evernight Goddess would die in the Divine War.

  • Alice explained the Orthodox Gods, evil gods, Rose Redemption, Sasrir, the Creator’s interrupted resurrection, and the Three Gods to the Chief.
  • Alice showed Klein the Blasphemy Slate formulas for Mystery Attendant and Fool, and Klein wondered whether fooling Alice could count as fooling Fate.
  • Alice explained that she could not yet be called the Incarnation of Fate and discussed what a successful deception would require.
  • Klein warned Alice to keep his Virtual Personality secret, and Alice threatened to alter the City of Silver’s missionary pamphlets if he threatened her again.
  • Alice said she distrusted the Blasphemy Slate and Castle of Origin, then revealed that the Evernight Goddess would die in the Divine War.

Ch. 678The Vanished Corruption

Alice and Klein led the people of the Forsaken Land of the Gods through the gate into the bright world, where Dunn welcomed them in an unexpectedly grand fashion. Klein advanced to Miracle Invoker, and his new authority over Castle of Origin changed how Alice perceived him; their conversation ended with Alice wondering what would happen if she could sense neither of the two wills or kinds of corruption Klein described.

  • Alice told Klein that the Goddess had orchestrated the situation and urged him to rest while he prepared for his advancement.
  • After two weeks, Alice had Derrick open the Divine Palace gate, and the group waited until night fell before descending through the darkness toward the Black Monasteries.
  • Daylight revealed the group on an island in the golden sea, and Dunn arrived with a fleet to bring them to safety.
  • Dunn dramatically welcomed the newcomers, prompting Alice to take Klein to an uninhabited island, where Klein drank the Miracle Invoker potion.
  • Klein's body dissolved into transparent Worms and entered the Historical Void, and Castle of Origin then summoned Alice, who found herself unable to resist its authority.
  • Klein discussed the opposing wills and corruption he sensed after advancing, and Alice wondered aloud what it would mean to sense neither.

Ch. 679Time to return

Klein learned the truth about the Outer Deities and discussed faith, fate, and good luck with Alice, who then returned to the Forsaken Land of the Gods. There, Ouroboros chased her until she drew Will Auceptin into the pursuit and transformed him into an infant.

  • Alice confirmed her suspicions about her identity and explained the secrets of above the sequence and the Outer Deities to Klein.
  • Klein decided to give up the Sea God’s believers and discussed the difference between fate and good luck with Alice.
  • Alice returned to the Forsaken Land of the Gods carrying the Blasphemy Slate and encountered Ouroboros, who began chasing her.
  • Alice found Will Auceptin and brought him into the chase, while Amon watched from a distance.
  • Will attacked Alice to get ahead, but Alice stopped and reversed their sizes, leaving Will in an infant’s body.

Ch. 680Preparations of Their Own

Alice entered the Gray-White Mist with the Blasphemy Slate, triggering a powerful convergence that drove Ouroboros away and pulled at Will Auceptin. Amon revealed that he had been preparing to use his connection with Alice and her Fate for his own path to godhood, while putting his search for Castle of Origin on hold.

  • Amon returned Will Auceptin's stolen life stage, turning him into an infant, and Alice fled Ouroboros by entering the River of Fate.
  • Alice recited the incantation at the Gray-White Mist and followed its pull to capture a fleeting silver gleam, setting off a powerful attraction.
  • Ouroboros felt his Snake of Mercury Beyonder Characteristics being stripped away, abandoned two of them, and Returned to his master's side.
  • Will Auceptin realized the convergence could let him Restart, lose his Sequence 1 Beyonder Characteristic, and escape, then restarted as the attraction dragged him away.
  • Amon reflected on how Alice's Fate and her resemblance to him could serve as a backup plan for becoming a god, and postponed his attempt to steal Castle of Origin.

Ch. 681Wheel of Fortune

Alice completed her advancement and became the Wheel of Fortune, escaping the River of Fate after the Blasphemy Slate drew a dangerous figure into the Chaos Sea. She later reunited with Klein, whose worries about her identity and strange effects of Fate led to a discussion of her divination-based abilities.

  • Alice used the Chaos Sea’s imprint and a net woven from connected fates to preserve herself in the River of Fate, then emerged as a Great Serpent and became the Wheel of Fortune.
  • A figure with Amon’s face reached for Alice, but she summoned the Blasphemy Slate, which unleashed the Chaos Sea and swallowed him as she escaped.
  • At Chernobyl, a withered figure climbed from the illusory black ocean and realized he could no longer sense his true body or other avatars.
  • Klein explained to the Tarot Club that Alice was taking part in a gambling game with Fate, while he worried that she might return as someone else.
  • Klein noticed people across the Outside World forgetting events and experiencing confusing memories, then saw Daily and Dunn become convinced that Daily was pregnant despite nothing having happened.
  • After Alice landed, Klein tested her identity with an integral; Alice answered by explaining that she could divine the calculation process and work out the result.

Ch. 682Klein's Thoughts

Klein learned that Alice had become the Goddess of Fate and fallen into a deep sleep, then discussed her condition with the Tarot Club. After hearing that Will Auceptin might be reborn as an angel through Madam Daly’s pregnancy, Klein decided to investigate Amon’s condition and traveled toward the City of Silver’s settlement.

  • Alice told Klein she would sleep until before her birth, and Klein secretly considered how to propose to her using a ring resembling Amon’s proposal ring.
  • At the first Tarot Club after Alice became a god, Klein explained that she was the Goddess of Fate and was asleep while developing as a fetus.
  • Leonard privately told Klein that Madam Daly was pregnant and that the child might be Will Auceptin, whom the Goddess had blessed.
  • Klein decided not to act on Alice’s behalf and said he would speak with the Goddess before deciding what to do about Will Auceptin.
  • Klein divined Amon’s condition and saw Amon’s withered hand at Chernobyl, then chose to investigate the Forsaken Land of the Gods.
  • Klein returned to the Real World and headed toward the place where the City of Silver had settled to ask about the region’s condition.

Ch. 683Roselle

Klein visited Roselle in Emperor Roselle’s mausoleum after Bernadette reached the island, and they discussed Alice, the Apocalypse, and Roselle’s past. Roselle realized his Card of Blasphemy might be connected to the Primordial Moon’s corruption and warned Klein not to collect all twenty-two cards, especially the Mother card.

  • Klein divined the Forsaken Land of the Gods and saw that the passage beyond the Giant King's Court had closed, then set aside the mystery to focus on digesting his potion and accumulating miracles.
  • After Bernadette chose to visit Emperor Roselle’s mausoleum, Klein sent a paper figurine there and appeared before Roselle in his original form as Zhou Mingrui.
  • Klein and Roselle discussed Alice, her status as a True God, and the strange story of how she obtained the Key of Light; Roselle also learned that Klein was carrying her child.
  • Klein told Roselle that Alice had advised him not to contact Mr. Door and mentioned Amon, then listed the Blasphemy Cards he had collected.
  • Roselle explained how the cards’ anti-divination effects could have arisen, then realized he had made them while corrupted by the Primordial Moon and shouted for Klein not to collect all twenty-two, warning him to beware the Mother card.

Ch. 684Arranging Affairs

Klein spoke with Roselle about the Primordial Moon's contamination, the dangers of becoming an Old Days entity, and Roselle's family and final wishes. After promising to help Bernadette, Klein returned to the Castle of Origin and considered the risks of releasing the other Transmigrators, then wondered when Alice would awaken.

  • Roselle explained how the Primordial Moon may have influenced his fate and warned Klein that becoming an Old Days entity would be extraordinarily dangerous.
  • Roselle asked Klein to save him if possible, or destroy him and his mausoleum if he could not be freed from the contamination; Klein promised he would not forget.
  • Roselle asked Klein to look after Bernadette, and Klein agreed; they exchanged their names and discussed Alice.
  • Roselle said goodbye before falling asleep and returning to the seal, and Klein severed his connection to the paper figurine.
  • Klein returned to the Castle of Origin and decided against releasing the Transmigrators in the Light Cocoons because he distrusted the dangers surrounding them.
  • Klein looked at his body and wondered when Alice would awaken.

Ch. 685How About the Goddess of Light

Klein talked with the newly awakened Alice while building a Fully Automatic Wishing Machine, and she explained her limited strength after restarting. Alice recounted her Deification Ritual and raised the possibility of taking the name Goddess of Light, while the fate of Amon and Will remained unresolved.

  • Klein worked on a Fully Automatic Wishing Machine, and Alice teased him before explaining that she could chat and use minor powers but could not reliably fight.
  • Klein told Alice that Bernadette had sealed the corrupted Emperor Roselle and advanced to Sequence 2, and Alice worried about how Roselle might react to learning she was a true god.
  • Klein read Alice parts of the Holy Bible, where the City of Silver recorded her as the Angel of Fate and the Fool’s divine child.
  • Alice said Will Ongsaetin had restarted as the child of the captain and Madam Daly, and she decided to postpone dealing with him until after their births.
  • Alice recounted that Amon returned Will’s stolen time, then the Lord of Mysteries revived inside Amon’s body and she struck him with the Blasphemy Slate before the Chaos Sea flooded the area.
  • Alice suggested calling herself the Goddess of Light and wondered why the Great Old One of the Fate pathway was called the Key of Light.

Ch. 686Good Afternoon, Miss Fortune

Klein invited Alice to use the Castle of Origin to host the Tarot Club, and she joined the gathering in the form of a silver human baby after failing to decide her appearance. She introduced herself as the Goddess of Light, leaving the Tarot Club members bewildered.

  • Alice argued that her powers and her title, the Key of Light, justified calling herself the Goddess of Light, while Klein questioned how she would explain her inability to glow.
  • Klein offered Alice limited access to the Castle of Origin so she could host the Tarot Club, and she agreed after he clarified that he was not handing over its true authority.
  • Alice appeared above the Castle of Origin as an undecided silver human baby, so Klein placed her in a transformed chair while they waited for the gathering.
  • Klein summoned the Tarot Club members, and Audrey greeted Alice as Miss Fortune before Alice asked to be called the Goddess of Light.
  • Audrey, Alger, Cattleya, and Derrick reacted with confusion or quiet consideration as Alice explained why she thought the title fit.

Ch. 687Suggestions

Alice attended the Tarot Club meeting as a True God and discussed her awakening, her relationship with Mr. Fool, and the choices she faced after the Restart. The meeting left her undecided about her future appearance and gender, while Klein offered to help if she regretted her choice.

  • Alice questioned the Tarot Club members’ silence about her title, then let Audrey finish the greetings and begin the meeting.
  • After Derrick shared news from his life, Alger asked how Alice had joined the meeting, and she explained that Mr. Fool had suggested it after she persuaded Mr. World to leave his ugly machine to a professional.
  • Alice described strange family relationships among Mythical Creatures and explained that mushrooms on Cattleya’s ship had been created through the involvement of a Rose Bishop and a believer of the Original Moon Shell.
  • Klein asked Alice to stop discussing the subject, and she instead asked the Tarot Club for advice about her appearance, gender, and name after the Restart.
  • Alice considered remaining female, then proposed calling herself the God of Light if people would find a male Goddess of Light strange.
  • When Alice worried she might regret becoming a man, Klein offered to help, and Audrey observed that the two had not changed how they treated each other.

Ch. 688Light Born of Night?

At the Tarot Club, Alice hinted that Emlyn had taken a wrong path that had somehow become the right one, while joking with Klein about whether their child should be a son or daughter. Afterward, Leonard and Pallez speculated about Alice’s cryptic warning, and churches across the land investigated Merlin Hermes and the Fool; Alice remained asleep until the New Year.

  • Alice stopped herself from probing the World’s identity, then persuaded the angry Alice to reconsider her decision by thinking in terms of a son or daughter.
  • Alice told Emlyn that he had taken the wrong path by a twist of fate, but it had become the right path, and later asked Klein whether he preferred a son or daughter.
  • Leonard told Pallez that Alice wanted to become the Goddess of Light, and they discussed her remarks about Emlyn and the possible involvement of Lilith.
  • Emlyn concluded that the Church of the Earth Mother was the wrong path and wondered whether the Mother Goddess of Depravity could be the Ancestor.
  • Churches discovered that Merlin Hermes, who carried the Fully Automatic Wishing Machine, was a Blessed of the Fool, while Klein continued digesting his potion and Alice fell asleep.
  • On January 1, 1352, Alice greeted Klein with a Happy New Year.

Ch. 689Moral Purity Complex

Klein and Alice discussed the approaching succession of divine positions as war intensified, and Alice revealed that the God of Combat had fallen after Lilith replaced his mother, Omibella. Klein struggled with what the revelation meant for his own morality and his inability to oppose the Goddess, while Alice challenged him to consider what he might do when confronted with suffering firsthand.

  • Alice told Klein that she could sense an approaching divine succession but was afraid to reveal its details.
  • Klein continued digesting his potion near the front lines as the war worsened, while Alice gave the Staff of Life to the City of Silver.
  • Alice told Klein that Adam was nearing godhood and explained that Adam had few viable candidates besides Klein and Zaratul.
  • Alice revealed that the God of Combat had fallen after Lilith replaced Omibella, his mother, and dealt him a fatal blow during the divine war.
  • Klein admitted that he could not accept the suffering caused by the Goddess’s actions, and Alice called his struggle a moral purity complex.

Ch. 690Request

Klein returned to Backlund to seek protection from the Evernight Goddess and ask Pallez about Amon, learning that the Apocalypse was only a little over ten years away. In a dream, the Goddess agreed to help conceal Klein’s plan from Fate if he retrieved water from the River of Eternal Darkness after reaching Sequence 1.

  • Alice told Klein he would eventually need to speak with Adam and the True Creator, and asked him to bring back information from the second Blasphemy Slate.
  • Klein commissioned a ring resembling Rose's Oath, returned to Backlund, and met Leonard to ask Pallez about Amon.
  • Pallez said Amon had briefly become the true Error, and Klein warned Leonard that the Apocalypse was real and just over ten years away.
  • Klein prayed to the Evernight Goddess at St. Samuel's Church and met her in a dream, where she confirmed his plan to deceive Fate could work if maintained until he became a god.
  • The Evernight Goddess agreed to help conceal Klein’s ring from Fate in exchange for water from the River of Eternal Darkness, advising him to wait until Sequence 1 and avoid advancing with the Mystery Attendant characteristic.

Ch. 691Dialogue

Klein discussed his advancement and plans with the Evernight Goddess, learning how Antigonus had once accommodated the Fool Uniqueness and securing her help in suppressing him. After leaving the prayer hall, Klein encountered a bishop who mistook him for Alice and then turned his attention to the Church of Steam and the possibility of bringing Arrodes over.

  • Klein decided to avoid using the Mystery Attendant Beyonder Characteristic and prepare for a hunt for Zaratul before Alice was born, then asked the Evernight Goddess for a container to collect River Water of the River of Eternal Darkness.
  • The Evernight Goddess explained her interference in Klein's birth, why the Lord of Mysteries' residual will made the Mystery Attendant path dangerous, and how Antigonus had used Adam and Amon's help to fool Fate while accommodating the Fool Uniqueness.
  • Klein agreed to perform a Ritual of Bestowal before going to Calderón so the Evernight Goddess could use the river water to help put Antigonus into temporary eternal sleep.
  • After waking in the prayer hall, Klein donated his foreign coins, and the bishop mistook him for Alice because of her earlier donation to the Church of Evernight.
  • Klein left the church and considered taking advantage of the Church of Steam's defeat to bring Arrodes over.
