Whenever this happened, Klein found himself somewhat puzzled by Alice.

The True Gods seemed to treat her with a wary sort of courtesy. Though much of what she said and did was offensive, as long as she did not cross some bottom line, they would not attack her—or would only give her a warning-level beating.
