Background & Territory

Red Star Mountain is an ancient cultivation sect with a history exceeding ten thousand years. At its height, it possessed nearly one hundred immortals, nearly ten thousand disciples, and sufficient power to suppress Flying Cloud Mountain for a millennium while deterring Guang Lei Mountain. 421 456

Its authority once extended across a 10,000-li region containing Jin Rock City, Town Lin City, and other mortal settlements. Rather than directly administering these territories, the sect relied on tribute and issued warnings against encroachment by surrounding forces. 408 409

The sect's foundation is a major Spirit Vein. Within 1,000 li of the mountain are twelve cities with populations above one million, forming Red Star Mountain's traditional mortal base. 429 Red Star Mountain historically diverted Spiritual Energy from the shared vein to limit Flying Cloud Mountain's development downstream. 429

Leadership

History

Conflict with Town Lin City

Town Lin City had maintained a favorable relationship with Red Star Mountain for years through substantial, high-quality annual tribute and by sending talented students into the sect. 409 415 This arrangement collapsed when Red Star Mountain abruptly demanded an annual tribute of ten billion Spirit Coins—far beyond Town Lin City's yearly profit of 800 million Spirit Coins. 415

Ge Qingzi helped drive the escalation by repeatedly portraying Town Lin City as a threat and drawing attention to its profits, which exceeded Red Star Mountain's own income. 417 Negotiations briefly reduced the tribute to 250 million Spirit Coins after Zhou Ming bribed Ge Qingzi and the other negotiators, but the sect discovered Ge Qingzi's embezzlement and executed him. 417 418

Hongyan Daozu then raised the demand to one billion Spirit Coins annually and threatened to destroy Town Lin City if it refused. 418 Red Star Mountain's punitive force was instead ambushed by Spiritual Essence Cannons: twelve immortals were killed, four severely injured, and most of the accompanying 120 elite disciples were annihilated or incapacitated. 420

After suffering two major setbacks, Hongyan Daozu concluded that Town Lin City possessed inside intelligence on the sect and ordered the arrest of its Town Lin City exchange students. 422 The sect's losses left it vulnerable to rival sects and forced it into a tacit ceasefire with Town Lin City. 423 429

War with Flying Cloud Mountain

Red Star Mountain's reduced number of cultivators caused its interception of the shared Spirit Vein to weaken, more than doubling the Spiritual Energy flow received by Flying Cloud Mountain. 429 Flying Cloud Mountain correctly interpreted this anomaly and rumors of the Town Lin City conflict as proof that Red Star Mountain had lost nearly eighty immortals. 429

Town Lin City warned Red Star Mountain of Flying Cloud Mountain's planned invasion. Hongyan Daozu summoned ancestors from seclusion, prepared an ambush, and inflicted a crushing defeat on the attackers; only ten injured survivors returned to Flying Cloud Mountain. 430

The victory did not resolve Red Star Mountain's crisis. One ancestor was weakened after forcibly leaving seclusion, and the sect still feared both Guang Lei Mountain and Town Lin City. 433

Golden Sun Old Ancestor's Death

Three years later, Golden Sun Old Ancestor emerged from seclusion as a late Spirit Manifestation Stage cultivator, while the previously injured ancestor had recovered most of his strength. This briefly brought Red Star Mountain to its strongest point in history and revived its confidence. 434

Golden Sun Old Ancestor attempted to destroy Town Lin City personally, but its super Spiritual Essence Cannon heavily injured him. The Initial Number then killed him during his recovery, after which Red Star Mountain no longer dared to openly provoke Town Lin City. 434

Decline Under the Ten Thousand Chariots Nation

As the Ten Thousand Chariots Nation expanded, its education system and cultivation academies diverted Red Star Mountain's potential disciples. The sect recruited fewer than one hundred new disciples over several years while losing more than one hundred to conflicts and dangerous missions. 456

Its tribute income collapsed after more than 99% of mortal tribute ceased. Attempts to ban disciples from purchasing Ten Thousand Chariots Nation equipment, including Sky-Soaring Sets, instead drove dissatisfied disciples to defect from the mountain. 456

Facing a talent shortage, financial deficit, and declining morale, Red Star Mountain considered three survival options: relocating its mountain gate, assassinating Ten Thousand Chariots Nation officials, or merging with another sect. 456 A proposed merger with Azure Cloud Mountain would have reduced Red Star Mountain to an auxiliary sect and erased its name from external use. 456
