Technology Tree era

Z Country became the sole known initial host region of the Technology Tree Website, whose displayed technologies exceeded contemporary Earth research capabilities. Its senior officials debated whether the website was an alien gift, a hacker operation, or the work of an individual with alien technology inheritance 287.

To prevent foreign access from triggering a global war over advanced technology, Zhou Ming contacted Z Country's leadership while posing as a stranded alien. Z Country accepted a Ten-Year Non-Proliferation Agreement, established the Dragon Shield Bureau and Sky Net, and supported a technology blockade on countries outside Z Country 347.

Rapid technological rise

Z Country's military modernization became publicly visible during the 70th-anniversary military parade in the Imperial Capital. Displayed systems included fifth-generation stealth fighters, stealth bombers, large drone formations, laser-equipped Type 20 main battle tanks, a manned mecha force, and laser-equipped wheeled combat vehicles 586.

Its navy expanded to four aircraft carriers after two domestically built, nuclear-powered 80,000-ton carriers entered service in 2019. The new carriers were equipped with electromagnetic catapults, electromagnetic arresting gear, terminal laser defenses, and all-electric propulsion 586.

Z Country also developed long-term controllable nuclear fusion power generation, called the Artificial Sun. This resolved its energy problem and caused an attempted Western economic blockade to collapse within a month 586.

Extraterrestrial Technology crisis

The leak of Z Country's apparent access to alien technology led Western countries to demand that it surrender the technology or face sanctions and blockades 586. As regional conflicts intensified and a multinational fleet gathered in Z Country's nearby seas, Z Country faced the prospect of a large-scale war 750.

Z Country initially planned to release some advanced technology to gain roughly a year and a half for peaceful development. Its officials told Zhou Ming that the country possessed 13,414 nuclear warheads, could manufacture 1,000 more per month, and could potentially produce 20,000 using stored nuclear materials; however, they could not guarantee interception of submarine-launched nuclear weapons 751.

Under international pressure, Z Country proposed a four-tier technology-transfer system. Only one first-tier country would receive all technologies, while lower tiers would receive progressively less advanced technology; states designated as “rogue nations” were excluded entirely 758.

Z Country and M Country subsequently reached a consensus that made M Country the sole first-tier recipient. The agreement caused the multinational fleet in the South China Sea to disintegrate as other participating countries withdrew 758.

Second crisis and rise to dominance

M Country later accused Z Country of withholding technology, massed its fleet near Z Country again, and pushed the two states toward another nuclear-war crisis 771 772. Z Country invited M Country's president to visit after arranging Longevity Treatment through Genesis Technology, beginning negotiations that lasted more than three months 773.

The negotiations ended in a war lasting less than half an hour. Z Country used more than 11,000 nuclear warheads against over 5,000 strategic targets; no nuclear warhead reached Z Country's territory due to Zhou Ming's interception. M Country's former hegemony collapsed, while Z Country emerged as the power able to dominate Earth 775.
