The breakfast was neither too much nor too little, and it tasted quite good. Of course, some people liked this sort of thing while others did not, but there was so much variety that no one minded.
Those who did not like soy milk could have tofu pudding, those who did not like tofu pudding could have wontons, and there were steaming soup dumplings as well. The mages ate to their hearts' content.
"Such strange food, and strange utensils."
Mary set down her chopsticks and could not help sighing. The meals at the White Tower were also plentiful, but breakfast usually consisted of bread, eggs, ham, and fresh soup. Of course, many mages did not care much about food, so long as it filled their stomachs.
That was why these girls had been able to finish all the food that seemed so strange to them. After all... they had eaten even stranger things before.
Not to mention that it tasted fairly good.
What intrigued them even more, however, were the utensils used here. There were no knives and forks like those they were used to. Instead, each person was given two slender sticks called "chopsticks." At first, they had never used such utensils before and made a few embarrassing blunders, but mages were mages. They quickly got the hang of using chopsticks and even enjoyed it.
"But these utensils really are interesting."
As Annie spoke, she flicked her wrist and deftly picked up a bun.
"Look, they're simple and convenient, yet they contain incredibly complex principles... and all of that can be done with just two slender round sticks. I've decided to use these to eat from now on!"
"But you can't cut steak with those."
Delian hit the nail right on the head, but Annie merely curled her lip.
