To a Gray Dwarf, this was merely another routine trade.
He had just completed a major transaction with his servants and was making his way home to the warm comfort of Graystone City, filled with satisfaction. But that did not mean the Gray Dwarf would let down his guard. His poisoned crossbow remained strapped to his wrist, specially modified so that with a twitch of a finger, he could fire every bolt loaded within.
His servants were not to be trusted. Who knew whether they might try to seize his position behind his back? The Underdark was hardly a place known for good faith. If they thought they could defy him, or had a chance to replace him, those bastards would certainly do it.
The Bear Goblins were no different. They were dumb and stupid, but unless they understood the situation, who knew whether they might decide to rob their employer?
Not to mention the countless terrifying monsters that might lurk throughout the Underdark...
At that thought, the Gray Dwarf turned his head and glanced behind him. Other than the stretch illuminated by firelight, the deep tunnel was shrouded in darkness, making his heart pound uneasily.
