When Fang Zheng and Francis arrived in Arkham together, three days had already passed.

Innsmouth had been completely destroyed. Aside from them, there was not even half a living person left. Even the vehicles were battered wrecks. Under those circumstances, the two could only leave the city on foot. Fang Zheng had long been used to sleeping rough, but it was an exceptionally rare experience for Francis, so he actually found it rather exciting.

Along the way, Francis asked Fang Zheng quite a few questions about himself. Fang Zheng naturally made things up as he went, bragging about his experiences Subduing Demons and Exterminating Devils in other worlds. Francis listened with shining eyes. By the time they reached Arkham, they could not be called inseparable friends, but they were at least friends.

After arriving in Arkham, Francis invited Fang Zheng to stay at his family home. However, Fang Zheng had no interest in imposing on someone else's household. He told Francis that he would be staying in Arkham for a while and would inform him once he found a place. Though Francis was somewhat reluctant to part with him, he could only nod in agreement in the end.

As for the house...

Arkham was not a particularly large city, and there was no shortage of decent apartments. The main trouble was money. After all, this was the 1930s. There were telephones but no internet, much less electronic banking. It was impossible for Fang Zheng to fleece the FBI.

But could that stump him?

Of course not.

So Fang Zheng casually fleeced the Federal Reserve instead. Anyone could run out of money, but the Federal Reserve could not possibly be broke, right?

Information manipulation was Nymph's specialty. Before long, Fang Zheng had purchased a small apartment with a garden in Arkham.
