The fact was, it wasn't until the following evening that Conan and Ran appeared before Fang Zheng again.
"Well, look at that. You're still alive. Didn't get beaten to death, huh?"
Looking at Conan's pale face and the way he could barely stand, Fang Zheng chuckled and greeted him. Conan could only roll his eyes helplessly. He had no strength whatsoever to snap back at Fang Zheng, because—Ran had put him through hell for the entire night yesterday!
After Fang Zheng left, Ran immediately started dealing with Conan. Of course, she couldn't actually beat him to death, but for Conan, that night had been truly miserable. First came Ran's complaints, then naturally came the old grudges: sleeping together, bathing together, and how he had actually tricked her into confessing that she liked Shinichi right in front of him...
Then Ran grabbed her fist and unleashed a flurry of Dragon Drill attacks on Conan's head, making him cry out in agony. But just when Conan wanted to get angry, Ran suddenly hugged him and began rambling about how worried she had been, what she thought about every time he called, and a whole lot more besides, leaving Conan unable to vent his anger at all.
As she went on, Ran got angry again and started nagging about all the times she had suspected he was Shinichi, and how he had still dared to lie and say he wasn't, and how he had done this and that... That was when Conan first learned just how terrifying a woman's memory could be. He had forgotten countless trivial little incidents, yet Ran remembered them even more clearly than he did!
Poor Edogawa Conan—or rather, Kudo Shinichi—was at least a famous detective, yet when faced with Ran's accusations, he couldn't even manage half a retort.
