Gate of Cornerstone.
This inverted-pyramid complex at the very center of Kagami Island was, as its name suggested, the heart of the island. Not only was it responsible for managing the entire Artificial Island, it was also the core that linked all of the island's sections together. The reason this artificial island floating on the sea had not broken apart under the impact of currents and typhoons was entirely because the Gate of Cornerstone absorbed and cushioned those forces.
For that reason, security here was exceptionally tight. One hundred and fifty fully armed Security Force personnel were stationed here permanently, along with sixteen Demon Hunters. On top of that, countless barriers had been erected to protect the Gate of Cornerstone. It could truly be called an impregnable fortress.
Yet just as the Maginot Line had ultimately been useless as hell, the heart of Kagami Island suffered an unprecedented attack today. The barriers protecting its walls had been destroyed with almost no resistance, all sixteen Demon Hunters had been completely defeated, and the Security Force had been wiped out to the last man.
Only two people had accomplished all of this.

Looking at the burning corridor before her and the soldiers lying on the ground, Asagi covered her mouth, her face pale. As Airi's classmate and friend, Asagi was not merely an ordinary high school girl. She was also a member of Kagami Island's central administrative organization. Because of the explosion in the warehouse district today, she had hurried to the central management area to help. But Asagi had never expected that the suspects behind the warehouse bombing would be bold enough to target the Gate of Cornerstone—and succeed!

The wall was blasted apart. Then Asagi saw a blue-haired girl encased from head to toe within
