At Olivert's prompting, Fang Zheng saw the force he had mentioned on the screen. They wore gray uniforms and looked more like police than soldiers. Leading them was a blue-haired girl with a side ponytail, while beside her stood a somewhat younger girl operating a strange weapon as she held back the Noble Faction's advance.
Although the two girls performed admirably, the Noble Faction had overwhelming numbers, not to mention those Mecha weapons. It looked like they would not be able to hold out much longer.
"What is that? They don't look like an army."
"That is the Railway Military Police."
Olivert hurriedly explained.
"They were established by Chancellor Osborne after the... terrorist attack. Their duties are counterterrorism and armed suppression, and even among special forces, they are the elite of the elite."
"And the girl in front?"
"Claire Rieveldt, a lieutenant in the Railway Military Police. She is also one of the Iron Blood Children."
"Iron Blood Children?"
Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow at that.
"What is her relationship with that chancellor? Is she his daughter?"
"More or less. Chancellor Osborne adopted several orphaned children, raised and trained them, then promoted them into the Imperial government. Every one of them is highly capable, which is why they are called the Iron Blood Children."
"I see... Are you sure you want to bring them aboard? Aren't they the chancellor's confidants?"
"Yes, but Father has always had a good relationship with Chancellor Osborne. And our Empire follows a Dual Monarchy, with the Emperor and the Imperial Chancellor sharing power, so..."
"So if Chancellor Osborne did not have the Emperor's trust, he could not have done all this... Fine. Since you say so, we'll do it."
Fang Zheng shrugged and said nothing more. There was one thing he had not told Olivert:
