"Applying for a new club...?"
When Mayumi Nanase accepted the application Fang Zheng handed her, her expression was basically the same as the four girls' when they had heard Fang Zheng speak—it was one of utter bewilderment.
"That's right. No one said the vice president can't form a club."
"No, that isn't the issue. But Kasugano, you're going to serve as vice president, work for the Kazekage Committee, and lead a club yourself. Won't that be too much?"
Mayumi Nanase voiced her doubts, while Azusa Nakano, who seemed like a small animal beside her, timidly chimed in.
"Also, according to the rules, applying for a new club requires at least twenty people. Even counting you, there are only five of you..."
"Oh, then I won't apply for a club. A study group should be fine, right? As I recall, the minimum number for a study group is five."
Fang Zheng gave up on the idea with such clean decisiveness that the three girls before him were left speechless.
"A study group would be fine."
Suzune Ichihara, the calmest of the three, took Fang Zheng's application and examined it carefully, a puzzled expression appearing on her face.
"But the Far East Magic Research Society... Its main activities are listed as understanding, researching, and innovating magic... Isn't that far too broad? What exactly will you be doing?"
"Calling it understanding and research is really just reviewing coursework."
Fang Zheng shrugged.
"You all know that Second Course Students can only receive online instruction and can't get individual guidance from teachers. First Course Students can receive guidance, but there are too many students and too few teachers to meet everyone's needs. The four of them happen to be interested in studying and need the help, so I'll treat it as a private tutoring class
