Yu Xiaogang was a theorist obsessed with being recognized as the continent's foremost authority on martial souls. He sought talented disciples to validate his ideas, initially targeting Tang San after identifying his Twin Martial Souls. When Yu Xiaogang judged Blue Silver Grass too weak, however, he abandoned Tang San and instead attempted to recruit Xiao Lin for his top-tier Imprisoning Dragon Staff. 32 33

His proposed ring configurations reflected this fixation on immediate combat roles: he intended to give Tang San a poisonous snake-type ring for Blue Silver Entanglement and Xiao Lin a Silver Wolf ring. Xiao Lin's guidance had already steered Tang San toward vitality-based Blue Silver Grass cultivation, directly undermining Yu Xiaogang's plans. 6 26

Xiao Lin publicly ridiculed Yu Xiaogang's lack of strength and challenged him to prove himself at the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Competition eight years later. Yu Xiaogang eventually accepted guidance from the voice of the Rakshasa God. After massacring a remote village and disguising it as a bandit attack, his martial soul mutated into a sinister gray four-legged lizard. His later crimes included fabricating theses, ambushing soul masters, manipulating Ma Hongjun toward becoming a Fallen One, and leaking Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan secrets to Bibi Dong. 539 546 571 After the clan's destruction, Yu Tianheng confronted and killed him.
