Background / History

Mu En is a Limit Douluo and one of Shrek Academy's most influential figures. In his youth, he traveled the continent with Long Xiaoyao; together, they destroyed a group of rainforest shamans whose Head Drop Staff martial souls specialized in curses and mental control. 226

By the time Chen Ping enters Shrek, Mu En is already physically frail and spends much of his time resting near the Outer Courtyard dormitories. Chen Ping's medicinal cuisine provides him a rare sense of physical ease, prompting Mu En to investigate the boy's background. 46 82

Mu En initially judges Chen Ping's Innate Level Two Soul Power as poor, but recognizes his unusual diligence, moral character, luck, and administrative talent. Rather than treating Chen Ping solely as a cultivation prospect, he considers grooming him into a future director of Shrek's Martial Soul Department and a foundational figure for the academy's future. 82

Mu En is usually calm, genial, and patient. He takes particular interest in young people with potential, judging them not only by cultivation talent but also by their integrity, work ethic, ambition, and ability to shoulder responsibility. Although physically weakened, Mu En can become sharply aggressive when Shrek's leaders evade responsibility or allow tradition to endanger students.
