The Thunder Institute stood at the southeastern corner of Beichen Martial University. Its architecture was rugged and imposing, built mostly from massive dark stones. The eaves were sharp-edged, and faint arcs of electricity flickered around them.
Before one even approached, one could feel the active Thunder Elemental Power in the air, along with an austere, fierce aura.
Following the guidance of his jade token, Lin Feng arrived before a grand hall bearing the plaque "Thunder Institute Affairs Hall."
The hall was rather spacious, yet somewhat deserted, with only a handful of people inside.
A lean-faced middle-aged man in the attire of a Thunder Institute steward was bent over a desk handling documents without even raising his head.
"Newly admitted disciple Lin Feng, here to complete the formalities."
Lin Feng stepped forward and placed his identity jade token and letter of recommendation on the desk.
Only then did the middle-aged steward look up. His gaze swept over Lin Feng like lightning, and when he saw the words "Jiangnan Province" inscribed on the jade token, his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
He picked up the letter and skimmed it quickly. After confirming that everything was in order, he took out from the cabinet behind him a neatly folded set of dark-blue institute robes, a thin copy of the Thunder Institute Rules, and a palm-sized gray cloth pouch.
"Lin Feng, champion of Jiangnan Province."
His tone was flat, betraying neither joy nor anger. "These are your institute robes, institute rules, and basic cultivation resources for this month. Your dormitory is Room A, Courtyard Seven, Sector C. There is a map inside your jade token. Find your own way there."
He pushed the items toward Lin Feng. When he pushed over the gray cloth pouch in particular, his movement seemed rather casual.
Lin Feng accepted
