Song Lingzhen looked at the resolute Shiyu and found it hard to force him. After discussing it with the person beside her, she decided to take Shiyu to Shrek City and let the academy's higher-ups have a look.
Martial Souls with the Space Attribute were relatively rare, especially such a pure Space Martial Soul.
She believed his Martial Soul was a space element, a level far higher than most Space Martial Souls.
Natural Element Martial Souls were all rather powerful. For instance, pure fire could be stronger than Martial Souls such as Fire Bird, Fire Python, or Fire Leopard.
That was why she was willing to spend the time to bring Shiyu to Shrek City for the higher-ups to assess.
If his Martial Soul had been something like a Space Leopard, she most likely would not have wasted her time.
"I don't have any money. Can you cover my travel expenses, food, and lodging?" Shiyu asked somewhat awkwardly.
"That's hardly any money. Shrek Academy can afford it," Song Lingzhen said with a laugh, finding him rather interesting.
That afternoon, Shiyu followed Song Lingzhen out of Heaven Dou City by carriage, heading for Shrek City, where Shrek Academy was located.
After a bumpy journey lasting a week, they finally reached Shrek City, home to Shrek Academy.
Shiyu was still shocked when he saw the legendary Shrek City. He had never seen city walls dozens of meters high before.
The carriage stopped at Shrek Academy's gate. This was actually one section of Shrek City's wall; the city wall itself served as the academy's perimeter wall. Perhaps only Shrek Academy could pull off something like this.
This city belonged to Shrek Academy. It had originally been built to serve the academy.
However, its favorable location, combined with Shrek Academy's golden reputation, had attracted many merchants. After thousands of years of development, the once-small city had grown into the Second Greatest City Under Heaven.
The title of Number One City Under Heaven had always been fiercely disputed. Some claimed it belonged to Shrek City, while others said Mingdu. After arguing for over a thousand years, no conclusion had been reached; different standards led to different Number One Cities Under Heaven.
In Shiyu's heart, he still considered Mingdu the greatest city under heaven. There should have been an obvious gap in their level of development.
"Those registering, line up properly. No loud noises, no cutting in line, and absolutely no fighting. Anyone who disrupts order will be disqualified from applying to Shrek Academy!" Some students were serving as volunteers to maintain order.
These days marked Shrek Academy's annual admissions period. Many people had come to apply, and long lines had already formed at the registration area.
Shiyu looked around curiously, wanting to see whether he could spot anyone familiar.
The people he was familiar with were those who had appeared in the story, such as Huo Yuhao and Beibei.
He had yet to determine what era he was in. What he could be sure of was that it was not Tang San's era; by this point, Tang San had already become a legendary figure.
Nor was it the era of Legend of the Dragon King. The world was still rather old-fashioned, with no cars or airplanes.
He was probably in the period between those two special eras. As for whether this was the era of Peerless Tang Sect's protagonist, he could not be sure.
During this time, he had asked around. Some said more than nine thousand years had passed since Tang San became a God, while others said it had been over ten thousand years. He had received several different answers.
Therefore, he had no way of judging whether this was the era Ten Thousand Years Later.
He really wanted to see people like Huo Yuhao and Beibei to determine the exact Timeline, so he could at least know where he stood.
I really want to shout Huo Yuhao's name.
Shiyu did not know Huo Yuhao's exact appearance. He had looked at many people, but could not determine whether any of them were Huo Yuhao.
He followed Song Lingzhen into Shrek Academy, drawing quite a bit of attention.
"Damn backdoor entrant." Some people disliked seeing Shiyu being led directly inside.
They automatically assumed that Shiyu, who was not wearing a uniform, had come to apply for Shrek Academy.
"Yuhao, don't be nervous. With our Tang Sect recommendation letter, you'll definitely be able to join Shrek Academy."
Beibei spoke to Huo Yuhao, who was standing in line and looked extremely nervous and uneasy, patting his shoulder in reassurance.
"Mm." The somewhat thin Huo Yuhao nodded, doing his best to calm himself.
Song Lingzhen brought Shiyu to a small office, where several teachers were already present.
"Wait here for a moment." After leaving that instruction, Song Lingzhen departed to find the director in charge of admissions.
Shiyu waited quietly in the small office. There were six desks inside, and teachers occupied five of them. Some were reading, while others were chatting.
"Are you here to apply to Shrek Academy?" one teacher casually asked.
The person chatting with her also looked over at Shiyu.
"More or less." Shiyu nodded.
"Your Soul Power is only level ten. It seems you haven't obtained a Soul Ring to break through and become a Spirit Master. How are you applying to Shrek Academy?" The female teacher who had asked the question frowned after carefully sensing him.
The teacher beside her could not help asking, "Do you have something special about you?"
"My Martial Soul is space," Shiyu answered. There was nothing to hide. Song Lingzhen already knew, and it was only a matter of time before these teachers learned as well.
"Space?" The two teachers both looked startled, while the teachers who had been reading also turned their gazes toward him with interest.
Just then, Song Lingzhen entered with someone who carried the air of a school administrator.
"Shiyu, release your Martial Soul for Director Du to see. If he thinks you can enroll, then you can be specially admitted," Song Lingzhen said.
Director Du looked at Shiyu with a hint of anticipation.
Shiyu silently released his Martial Soul, and a Silver Vortex appeared behind him.
Everyone present fixed their eyes on the Martial Soul behind him.
Director Du stepped closer for a better look and even reached out to touch it.
The sensation of touching the Silver Vortex was extremely strange. It could not be said to be merely air, yet neither could it be said that anything was there. In short, it was wonderfully indescribable.
"This truly is a Space Martial Soul, and quite a high-grade one at that. It's very pure." Director Du nodded repeatedly, clearly approving of the Martial Soul.
The purer a Martial Soul's attribute, the more powerful it generally was. Purity taken to the extreme was what was known as an Ultimate Martial Soul.
He felt that Shiyu's Space Martial Soul was already close to the ultimate level and might be exceptionally powerful.
"Why didn't you awaken your Martial Soul when you were six?" Director Du asked the same question, feeling regret on Shiyu's behalf.
If he had awakened his Martial Soul at six, he would have been a top-tier genius. With careful cultivation, he would most likely have been able to advance to become a Title Douluo in the future.
Now, however, his potential had been greatly diminished. Whether he could reach the level of a Title Douluo was hard to say.
Shiyu still only shook his head and refused to speak of the matter. Even when the other party threatened that he would not be allowed to enroll at Shrek Academy, he said nothing.
"Since you're unwilling to say, then so be it. Shrek Academy is still willing to give you this chance to study. You've been admitted," Director Du said, settling the matter.
"Thank you." Shiyu thanked him politely. Having a place to settle down was good news for him.
Within minutes, Shiyu had completed the enrollment procedures and officially registered at Shrek Academy, becoming a member of Shrek Academy.
Song Lingzhen even enthusiastically took him to the dormitory. However, before going there, they first went somewhere else: the Soul Hunting Department. This was where the academy helped students obtain Soul Rings, and Shiyu needed one.
"State your situation and requirements."
After arriving at the Soul Hunting Department, a registration teacher questioned Shiyu.
"Shiyu, first-year freshman, Martial Soul: space, Soul Power: level ten. I need a hundred-year Soul Ring. I need a—"
"What did you say your Soul Power was?" the teacher interrupted.
"Level ten," Shiyu repeated.
The teacher looked Shiyu up and down, then asked a question from the depths of his soul: "How did you get into Shrek Academy?"
