"Is this the Spirit Pagoda?" After making some preparations, Shiyu easily arrived at the Spirit Pagoda by taxi.
Looking at the tower-shaped structure before him, four to five hundred meters tall, he was still somewhat awed.
Its base was octagonal and likely covered more than ten thousand square meters. Every ten floors, it narrowed inward until reaching the spire at the top.
Its appearance was grand yet exquisite. From an architectural aesthetics standpoint alone, there was nothing to criticize.
This was the most beautiful tower-like building Shiyu had ever seen. Standing below and looking up, he even felt an inexplicable sense of oppression.
This probably isn't an illusion. There really is danger here, Shiyu thought.
It was his first time at the Spirit Pagoda, but he still knew a fair amount about it.
He knew that the Spirit Pagoda as a whole could be regarded as a gigantic Soul Tool, capable of both attack and defense. It was far more than just a building.
If anyone wanted to attack the Spirit Pagoda, they would likely have to face all sorts of dazzling attacks.
Shiyu took a deep breath and entered the Spirit Pagoda.
"May I ask what brings you to the Spirit Pagoda?" A dedicated Staff Member approached him as soon as he entered.
He was not a Spirit Master. Shiyu did not sense any Soul Power fluctuations from him.
"I'd like to ask how I can qualify to enter the Spirit Ascension Platform," Shiyu stated his purpose.
The Staff Member sized Shiyu up. Shiyu was currently dressed in clothing from this era and had long since changed out of his original school uniform.
Naturally, he could not wear the Shrek Academy School Uniform when visiting the Spirit Pagoda. At this point in time, the relationship between the Spirit Pagoda and Shrek Academy had already become rather tense.
Letting the Spirit Pagoda know that he was from Shrek Academy definitely would not be a good thing.
They might not necessarily do anything to him, but there was a high chance he would have made the trip for nothing.
"Please come over here and fill out some basic information." The Staff Member smiled after giving him a once-over.
Shiyu had spent more than a hundred thousand on this outfit, all so he would look a little more aristocratic.
Shiyu followed him over and received a form. After briefly looking it over, he saw that most of the required information concerned family background. They probably wanted to determine whether he was qualified to obtain access to the Spirit Ascension Platform.
Shiyu sat down and began filling it out. He used his real name, since there was no need to hide it.
He also did not conceal his Martial Soul—space. As for the rest, he mostly made it up.
When traveling outside, one's identity was something one created for oneself. The identity he had created was that of the only son of a reclusive family.
His parents were both Title Douluo and Three-Word Battle Armor Masters. Tired of conflict, they had found a place to live in seclusion.
He had grown up with his parents in that secluded place and rarely interacted with outsiders.
Now that his parents had allowed him to travel and gain experience, he was extremely curious about the miraculous Spirit Ascension Platform. He wanted to take a look and, while he was at it, improve himself through it.
"Both your parents are Title Douluo. May I ask what their titles are..." The Staff Member looked at Shiyu in a new light. Not only was this person wealthy, but he also had such a background.
He immediately began taking Shiyu seriously. He could be considered a major client.
It was not that they could make much money from Shiyu. Building a good relationship with him, or even recruiting him and his family into the Spirit Pagoda, was far more valuable than simply making money.
One reason the Spirit Pagoda had grown to its current scale was its monopoly over Soul Spirits, which brought in money every day.
More importantly, it recruited and built relationships with Spirit Masters across the world. That was the foundation for any faction that wished to grow stronger.
"That's not convenient to disclose. My parents are rather low-key and specifically instructed me not to casually reveal their titles outside. I hope you understand," Shiyu said, pretending to be troubled.
"I see. I understand, I understand." The Staff Member did not press him further.
"Your circumstances do meet the requirements for our Spirit Pagoda to grant Spirit Ascension Platform qualifications."
"However, I'm only a front desk Staff Member. I don't have the authority to decide whether you can receive entry qualifications for the Spirit Ascension Platform."
"I'll need to take you to see a superior and let him decide this matter," the Staff Member said politely.
"Alright." Shiyu followed the Staff Member into an elevator and arrived on the sixty-sixth floor.
This floor was relatively quiet, with offices lining both sides of the corridor.
Knock, knock, knock. The Staff Member knocked on the door.
Shiyu saw the words written on the door: Spirit Ascension Platform Audit Office.
"Come in." The person inside spoke. Judging from his voice, he was a middle-aged man. His voice was deep and powerful, and Shiyu's first impression was that he was quite strong.
After opening the door and entering, Shiyu saw that the nearly hundred-square-meter office contained only two workstations, one near the door and one by the window.
The workstation by the window was empty, while a middle-aged man sat at the one near the door, reading documents.
He only looked up after the Staff Member respectfully spoke.
His gaze mainly fell on Shiyu.
Shiyu politely smiled and nodded at the middle-aged man without speaking first.
"Vice Tower Master Li, this youth named Shiyu wishes to apply for entry qualifications to the Spirit Ascension Platform. This is the information form he filled out. Please take a look," the Staff Member said as he handed Shiyu's form to the middle-aged man.
This man was the person in charge of the Spirit Ascension Platform and one of the three vice tower masters of the East Sea Spirit Pagoda.
Vice Tower Master Li accepted the form, focusing on Shiyu's Martial Soul, Soul Power, and family background.
"A Space Martial Soul?" Vice Tower Master Li raised his head and looked at Shiyu with slight surprise.
"Yes." Shiyu nodded.
"Pure space?" Vice Tower Master Li asked in detail.
"Yes." Shiyu nodded again.
Vice Tower Master Li studied Shiyu anew. "Release your Martial Soul first and let me see it."
"Alright." Shiyu released his Space Martial Soul. A Spatial Vortex appeared behind him, but no Soul Rings appeared beneath his feet.
Vice Tower Master Li focused on sensing the energy fluctuations from the Spatial Vortex, and the surprise in his eyes grew stronger.
Such pure Spatial Energy, Vice Tower Master Li thought. He keenly judged that this Martial Soul was far from ordinary.
There was a concept of ultimate attributes, though the ones commonly mentioned were Ultimate Fire, Ultimate Ice, and Ultimate Metal, because such ultimate attributes were relatively more likely to appear.
That was only relative, however. Even Ultimate Fire, the most commonly appearing one, had appeared in fewer than five people throughout history.
For an attribute like space, there had never been any talk of an ultimate version, because an ultimate, pure Space Martial Soul had never appeared.
Yet Shiyu's Martial Soul gave him the feeling of something ultimate. That was also why he felt that Shiyu's Martial Soul was extraordinary.
"Why don't any Soul Rings appear when you release your Martial Soul?" Vice Tower Master Li noticed the anomaly.
"I don't know either. I've already obtained two Soul Rings, but both of them strangely disappeared after I acquired them."
"My parents examined me, but even they couldn't explain this strange phenomenon."
"Fortunately, it hasn't caused me any negative effects," Shiyu explained.
He had known that he would lose his Soul Rings after transmigrating. It had happened during his first transmigration, and it had happened again during his second.
So he had already considered how to explain it. Rather than fabricate a lie, it was better to attribute it to an unknown cause.
There were many strange things in this world. One more was nothing unusual.
"Something like this actually exists?" It was also Vice Tower Master Li's first time encountering such a situation.
"Without Soul Rings, wouldn't you be at a huge disadvantage in battle? After all, without Soul Rings, it would be equivalent to having no soul skills to use."
Vice Tower Master Li frowned slightly. If that were truly the case, it would be somewhat wasteful of such Martial Soul talent.
"A little, but every loss comes with a gain. Although I can't use soul skills, my control over space far surpasses that of Spirit Masters at the same level. Even without Soul Rings, that gives me considerable combat strength."
Shiyu spoke, naturally unwilling to let the other party underestimate him. Otherwise, his chances of obtaining qualification to enter the Spirit Ascension Platform would decrease.
"Is that so? Would it be convenient to demonstrate it for me?" Vice Tower Master Li asked with interest.
Shiyu hesitated for a moment before agreeing. In the next instant, he vanished from where he stood and reappeared by the window.
This startled the Staff Member. Even Vice Tower Master Li's gaze narrowed.
He was a Soul Douluo, yet he had failed to react to Shiyu's Teleportation just now.
Normally, Teleportation skills would not be so abrupt. There would be a windup, meaning energy fluctuations.
But just now, no energy fluctuations appeared at all. Shiyu had simply moved over there so suddenly that anyone unaware of what had happened might have thought he had been standing by the window all along.
Just as Vice Tower Master Li was about to say something, Shiyu vanished again and appeared elsewhere. Then he continued teleporting, until he suddenly appeared behind Vice Tower Master Li and patted his shoulder.
Vice Tower Master Li jolted to his feet. The instant his shoulder was patted, his instinct had been to strike.
Fortunately, he held himself back. Otherwise, Shiyu's condition right now would be hard to predict.
"Vice Tower Master, please forgive my offense," Shiyu apologized. The burst of energy fluctuations in that instant had made him somewhat alarmed.
"It's fine." Vice Tower Master Li waved his hand, and the way he looked at Shiyu changed once again.
