The explosion crater, a scene of utter devastation, showed just how massive the disaster here had been. Historical ruins that might have held great value had been blasted to pieces and mixed with the black rotting soil. Not a single plant could be seen within several hundred meters; all of them had been shredded by the shockwave and buried. Just as we were wondering whether the humans Sandora had sensed earlier had been killed in the blast, a black mound of earth in the distance suddenly moved, and two dirty, dust-covered "people" crawled out of it.
What tenacious vitality—by ordinary standards, anyway.
Though the humanoid creatures that crawled out of the dirt looked lively enough, the explosion had left them completely unrecognizable. All I could see were the remnants of clothing that had practically turned into strips of cloth, along with the strange broken tools they held in their hands. With just one glance, I still judged from their general builds that they should have been two women... er, creatures suspected of being female, because I suddenly noticed two thick, lizard-like tails behind them. Those tails had far too much presence to miss at a glance.
"Cough, cough, #!#¥%#&...#%#" The first humanoid creature to get up—please forgive me for describing her so rudely, but her race seemed rather unusual—coughed heavily and muttered something indistinctly. Her voice carried a hissing resonance and sounded quite resentful. Then she—I figured "she" would do for now—bent down and helped her companion up. This time, what the other one said was finally clear: "Look what you did!"
