Sandora was a decisive person—at least when it came to Imperial affairs. After deciding to use the Garden of Departure system to help the Exiles reestablish contact with the Fifth Fleet, she immediately notified Little Artemis through Spiritual Connection. The Garden of Departure had just completed routine maintenance, and all its components were still active rather than shut down, ready to carry out the mission at any time.
There was naturally no problem on the Exiles' side either. Since receiving the Fifth Fleet's final transmission at dawn, all their communication equipment had been running at full power, so they needed no preparation.
The only thing that needed preparing was a temporary conversion device to rewrite the Exiles fleet's communication protocol into a data format recognizable by the Garden of Departure system. The two used vastly different data formats. The Tobeiru technology's multilinear randomly distributed data protocol seemed bizarre to us, and translating between the two data types in real time without a mapping database required enormous computing power. So Sandora decided to deploy a Shilin Mainframe each at the Garden of Departure and Kairudak Planet for auxiliary calculations. The Garden of Departure side was ready quickly: that system always had at least two idle mainframes on standby for emergencies. On our side, we called Bubble over—having her personally handle the more difficult end was more reliable.
Kai Lu Da Ke Star had a Communication Array, and one of its data ports happened to be inside this "Council Building," saving us a great deal of trouble. According to the Council, this large Communication Array spread across the planet's surface had been retrofitted from the arrays stripped directly from their old refugee ships. It was already quite ancient. It would inevitably have some operational issues—after all, the things they made could not
