Early this morning, I was woken by an exceptionally loud racket.
Here was what happened. These past two days, I'd been busy handling reports on the Deep Diving Project, and the astonishing information about Abyss Shilin revealed by that Ghost Ship had sent both Sandora and me digging up old matters we'd previously overlooked and filtering through them again. I'd been going to bed very late, so naturally I couldn't get up in the morning. I'd thought there was finally nothing to do today and planned to sleep in, but while I was still dreaming, a series of earth-shaking cries came from the roof: Caw—caw—
By the time I got dressed and came downstairs, I found Older Sister scolding that stupid bird in the Living Room, just as expected. "How many times have I told you? You're a crow, not a duck, not a swan, and definitely not a domestic chicken. I don't bother you when you caw normally, but why were you perched on the roof crowing this morning? Even if you think you're a chicken, you can't possibly be a rooster, can you?!"
That was when I figured out exactly what had woken me up so early.
