I didn't know whether to call it expected or surprising that we hadn't come under attack.

The Empire Fleet jumped into kn22d World. There was no fierce barrage waiting for us, no heavily guarded fortress arrays, no Gravity Traps or Warp Disruptors, not even the slightest communications interference. We were greeted by cold, empty space and an ancient Star System that appeared completely devoid of life.

"Deep-space telemetry has detected Fallen Apostle military bases," the intelligence officer reported loudly from the command station. "However, all bases are in silent mode. No active targets have been detected, and soul-detection readings are zero."

"Abandoned?" Sandora frowned. "Expand telemetry coverage to the entire universe. Deploy intelligence probes. Don't overlook any suspicious locations, including Space Folds and abnormal gravitational focal points."

I looked out over this empty universe. Like most worlds located in the Abyss Zone, its fundamental laws were not particularly "friendly." The stars were sparse, celestial bodies few and far between. I didn't know whether it had always been like this or whether overly intense abyss activity had caused the original celestial bodies to self-destruct. Still, its environment could already be considered a blessed land within the Abyss Zone. At least it still possessed some formed celestial bodies and relatively regular material activity. Take the Star System where the Empire Fleet was currently stationed: although its sun was unstable and the planets' orbital speeds fluctuated abnormally, they were still celestial bodies. Having something in sight was always better than nothing.

More precise telemetry results soon appeared before us. This universe contained seven large military bases, countless small outposts and garrisons, and two Star Systems that appeared to be heavy military-industrial bases. It was a Border World with relatively high military importance, even higher than we had predicted. The only problem now was
