After the disaster broke out, plague and destruction raged everywhere, and the entire Empire Zone was plunged into the howling waves of ruin. Before the equalizing end of the world, every race, strong or weak, met its end. Former protectors became butchers, former homes became Devil's Caves, the flames of civilization gradually died out, and countless worlds turned to ashes—those who had not personally lived through that disaster could hardly imagine the horror and panic when it descended. Even uncovering more historical records and ruins afterward could never fully reconstruct that terrifying scene.
Amid the raging waves of the apocalypse, aside from a small number of lucky ones who escaped the contaminated zones through quick reactions or the Empire's desperate rescue efforts, most races were wiped out in an instant before they could even resist. Yet some races trapped within the Empire Zone survived: they happened to fall within the sight of Abyss Shilin, who had not yet gone completely mad, and so these people—whether fortunate or unfortunate—were placed under her protection.
It was no longer possible to send these survivors out of the Empire Zone. The borders had been sealed, and every World Gate leading to the distant frontiers had either stopped functioning or been blown up by local garrisons while they still retained their last shred of clarity. Moreover, with the contamination completely out of control, sending more survivors out of the Empire Zone meant exponentially increasing the chance of spreading it. Thus, Abyss Shilin did the last thing she could: she gathered the surviving remnants of every race and sent them all to the last world within the contaminated zone that had not yet been affected. Then, she deeply "buried" that world beneath the ruins of the Old Empire. Though that disaster destroyed everything in its path,
