Misleading

At Viska's suggestion, we began trying to develop a faster attack method for the Psionic Death Star, one that would still be more powerful than ordinary attacks.

Before this, the giant celestial fortress's powerful attack skill had been Emperor's Breath—anyone who dared mention that move's original name would answer to me. This attack could flatten all space within five light-years in an instant, but it required a period of charging. That charging time was enough for warships like Eternal-class vessels to jump away, and it could not be charged first and then held until an enemy appeared either. In other words, once its energy was full, it had to be fired. Thus, Emperor's Breath could generally only be used against fixed celestial bodies within range or Planet Warships that were too unwieldy to move. This time, we intended to use it against an Eternal-class Warship formation from the Vengeance Legion, and its attack speed was unsatisfactory.

The Psionic Death Star's ordinary attack, meanwhile, was vividly called its "close-in defense guns." It used the surging Psionic Sea of Fire on its surface to launch omnidirectional indirect bombardments. Given the Death Star Fortress's quasi-stellar structure, these bombardments were actually highly precise, highly concentrated Solar Prominences under controlled conditions. Their effective range exceeded a million kilometers. It sounded distant, but compared to the fortress's size, it did not even reach the thickness of its corona. It was effectively a close-range weapon.

That was the nature of giant fortresses: one or two massive superweapons capable of destroying heaven and earth at a stroke, followed by close-in defense guns, close-in defense guns, and more close-in defense guns. Their armaments were polarized to an extreme. Aside from their superweapons, their combat power lay in their enormous Escort Fleets. After all, you could not mount a 152mm
