Dumbledore picked up a Cockroach Cluster from the table.
"Want one?"
Professor Snape furrowed his brows and leaned back slightly, disgust in his eyes and his thin lips pressed tight. "I have no interest whatsoever in that nauseating stuff."
Dumbledore shrugged. "All right, but it really is delicious."
"I'm talking to you about Dylan!" Professor Snape said in a low voice.
Dumbledore laughed. "I never knew you could care so much about a young wizard."
Professor Snape frowned. "He has already plunged headfirst into an extremely dangerous situation."
"How so?" Dumbledore looked somewhat surprised. "He shouldn't possibly have access to anything truly dangerous."
"Yes, but it isn't impossible!" Snape snorted.
Dumbledore looked at him. "You mean he might learn forbidden magic that distorts the mind out of curiosity about spells?"
"I'm afraid it goes beyond that."
Professor Snape gave a cold laugh. "If he finds a safe method, he will definitely do it."
Dumbledore frowned.
Snape continued, "Today, he didn't just come to ask me how Fiendfyre could be countered."
"After I told him the answer, he began asking how Amortentia actually worked."
"Hmm?" Dumbledore froze again.
Dylan was only a first-year young wizard, so why was the scope of his research so... broad?
"What was he researching that for?"
Snape sneered again.
"Amortentia can produce intense feelings of infatuation, but it isn't real affection. When he suddenly brought it up, I initially thought he was being foolish again, but..."
Professor Snape's face darkened further.
"He understood Amortentia's effects perfectly. What he truly wanted to research was whether, since Amortentia could create false emotions, other Potions could be brewed to produce emotions as well!"
"Clearly, he is very likely planning to use Potions to attempt research into Dark Wizard magic!"
