At dusk, in Hanshan City, a convoy arrived from afar, heading toward the city.
Menban and Sledgehammer had already come over from the convoy onto Xiong Da, who was at the front. They had reached their destination; there was no longer any need to guard the convoy.
Gazing at the majestic city in the distance, Sledgehammer let his body go limp and lay down atop a crate, sighing.
"We're finally here."
These past few days, they had been traveling every day. How long had it been since he had eaten a proper meal? How long since he had truly relaxed and enjoyed himself?
When they reached the city gates, the group entered the city amid the strange looks of the gate guards and countless townsfolk.
Xiong Da was simply too eye-catching. An Exotic Beast—and an Ironback Cang Bear at that—with such an enormous frame, was impossible to ignore.
Even setting Xiong Da aside, the huge crates on its back alone made it hard for people to look away.
There were no complications upon entering the city. In fact, it went remarkably quickly. With an Exotic Beast leading the way and dozens of horse-drawn carriages behind it, the strength and capabilities of such a massive convoy needed no explanation. The city guards' attitude was downright fawning.
The surrounding townsfolk also made way, watching from far off and not daring to approach, afraid of bringing trouble upon themselves.
Just after they entered the city, a man dressed like a scholar came forward. After seeing Zhu Wushi wave at him, he leaped onto the crate on the bear's back and dropped to one knee before Zhu Wushi in salute.
"Your subordinate greets the Manor Lord."
Zhu Wushi waved a hand.
"He Ming, rise. Take us to your place first. Lead the way."
"Yes."
