As time passed, Ruben left the cathedral and arrived on the bustling streets of the imperial capital. As the capital of the Holy Empire, Elrek was naturally highly developed and prosperous. Its broad streets could accommodate more than ten drake carriages traveling side by side, with sidewalks specifically marked out for pedestrians. A magical streetlamp stood every twenty meters along the road, blooming with light at night to illuminate the darkness for the people.
"So this is a big city. It really is much better than that damn place."
Dragon sat atop Ruben's head with his eyes open, surveying the prosperous city. He had long wanted to visit a bigger place to hunt for beauties, but Ruben had always kept him confined to Dris. Now, he was like a beast released from its cage—unstoppable.
"What are you looking for?"
Ruben neither agreed nor disagreed with Dragon's words, but the way this guy kept circling around atop his head was making his scalp heat up.
"Picking up women! That godforsaken Dris doesn't even have a single pretty girl. Today, I'm going to find a beautiful lady and spend a wonderful night with her."
As Dragon spoke, he quickly spotted a black-haired mature beauty dressed rather revealingly. She wore a tight, backless red dress, and every step she took seemed to deliberately sway her round hips to draw attention, displaying her unique mature charm. The large expanse of delicate skin exposed on her back showed off her flawless complexion and figure. Without a doubt, she was exactly Dragon's favorite type.
"Miss, please allow me to occupy one minute of your life. I think there's a good chance you'll fall in love with me during that time, so how about we have a chat to make sure you don't regret it?"
Dragon truly lived up to being the embodiment of lust. Sweet-talking girls came as naturally to him as breathing. His words were perfectly measured; the joking tone could make her stop without making her feel annoyed.
"Were you the one speaking?"
Dragon's taste truly was good. The woman in red was not only alluring from behind—her face was that of a peerless beauty as well. As if by coincidence, her eyes were the same purple as Dragon's. Perhaps she was used to being approached because of her appearance. After turning around, she looked at the expressionless Ruben in confusion and asked. She had seen plenty of people flirt with her, but never one like this.
"No, no, that's my partner. Raise your gaze a little higher. That's right, me."
Dragon patiently guided the mature beauty's gaze toward himself and gave her a flashy wink with his single eye.
"Oh, a talking magical pet. Are you that thing? The bug that looks like a twig?"
Dragon's appearance caught the woman's attention. Talking magical pets were uncommon, but they were hardly unusual in this bustling imperial capital. She thought for a moment, seeming to recall hearing of such a magical beast, and asked with great interest.
"No, I'm not a bug! I'm a gentleman."
"I see. Sorry, but neither your length nor your thickness is my type. If it were your master, though, I might consider it. Bye-bye~"
The woman in red held out both hands to gesture at Dragon's size. Though regret showed on her face, she could not hide the amusement in her eyes. She cast Ruben a seductive wink before leaving.
After understanding what she meant, Dragon fell into silent gloom. Just as Ruben was planning to continue wandering around the imperial capital, Dragon suddenly grabbed him and flew into the sky, spinning about erratically.
"Waaaah! I was rejected! Rejected because of my length and thickness! This is a lifelong humiliation! I don't want to live anymore!"
Dragon's miserable cries spread through half the imperial capital. Although he was the embodiment of lust, Dragon had always believed himself to be a gentleman—a man. To be told such excessive things by a woman had understandably left him unable to take it.
"Calm down, Dragon. Can't you turn into a human? Then your length and thickness can be whatever you want."
Ruben did not want Dragon to give up on himself over this or use him as a punching bag, so he earnestly comforted his partner.
"You make it sound easy. Have you ever seen me turn into a human?"
"Now that you mention it, no."
Ruben had been with Dragon for so long, and the things he transformed into were usually mechanical objects. He had indeed never seen him become a living creature.
"Let me put it this way: humans are the most structurally complex creatures in the world. Biology should have taught you how many cells there are in a human body, right? If I want to become a human capable of OOXX, I have to create every cell, chromosome, and all that stuff. Rather than take on that enormous workload, I'd rather fight that little bastard Michael for more than ten days."
Dragon said this somewhat self-destructively. It was not that he could not do it; he simply thought that transforming into a human solely to perform OOXX, only to transform back afterward, was far too wasteful. Besides, he was too lazy to keep changing back and forth.
"That really is complicated. Then what did you mean by spending a wonderful night together?"
"Burying my body in that deep ravine until dawn."
"Oh."
Ruben realized that he could not understand Dragon's way of thinking. He gave a token response, and Dragon likewise felt it was pointless to keep flying around randomly with Ruben. He found an empty patch of ground and casually threw him down.
On a lush, grassy riverbank, a girl held a white rose in her hands and gently placed it into the flowing river. Watching the white rose drift farther and farther away, the usually strong girl finally could not hold back her tears. The flower was the same color as her deceased friend's hair—pure white and beautiful. Yet people had feared her friend because of a foolish legend, causing her to seal away her heart and refuse everyone entry. Only before her teacher had she shown her true feelings.
There was no point thinking about it now. Her friend was already gone, and she had not even seen her one last time. The thought made the girl feel even more dejected. She curled up her legs, hugged her knees, and buried her head between her thighs to hide her tears.
Thud.
The sound of a heavy object striking the ground startled the grieving girl awake. She abruptly raised her head and found a black-haired boy lying just a short distance in front of her toes, while he was also curiously looking her over.
