The lines might have been simple, but the Chakra contained within them was real. Even if that bizarre "divine bird" could do nothing else, simply crashing into someone would cause tremendous damage.
Pain had no desire to be struck by such a massive mass of Chakra. The Deva Path used Yahiko's corpse, and unless necessary, Nagato wanted to avoid letting it suffer any damage.
Rumble!
The enormous "divine bird" crashed down where Pain had been, triggering a massive explosion and throwing up great amounts of mud.
Nagato's attention was focused entirely on this battle. The rain that had constantly drifted around Amegakure had stopped the moment the fight began.
Even without the rain, the ground was damp and muddy from years of rainfall. An attack like this could only toss up muck; it would not create clouds of dust.
No one had to worry about being unable to see what was happening. Jiraiya, in particular, clearly noticed that Pain had perfectly avoided the "divine bird's" attack. That explosion had merely been caused by the enormous Chakra construct crashing into the ground.
Pain had not escaped because he was especially nimble, but because the bird Yinsen had drawn was far too simplistic. It was easy to dodge.
"I told you, how does that thing look anything like a phoenix?"
Strangely enough, Yinsen did not continue his attack. Instead, he casually stood where he was with the enormous brush held upside down, one hand lightly resting on his waist, looking as though he were enjoying a show.
Just as Pain was preparing to counterattack, Yinsen softly uttered a single phrase.
"This part!"
Jiraiya did not understand what Yinsen meant until he sensed a powerful burst of Chakra erupt from the explosion site. He immediately turned to look at the huge crater left
