Background and History
Loki was raised in Asgard as Odin's adopted son and Thor's brother, despite originating from the Frost Giants of Jotunheim. Frigga trained him in sorcery, and he became Asgard's foremost sorcerer of his generation, surpassed only by Odin and Frigga themselves. His upbringing during Asgard's peaceful era left him sheltered from the wider universe's greater dangers. 199 204 207 224
Resentful of Thor's position as heir, Loki sought recognition through schemes and attempts to prove his superiority. He allied with Thanos, received the Scepter containing the Mind Gem, and targeted Earth and the Tesseract; after his defeat and capture, Ethan exposed both Thanos's manipulation and the gem hidden within Loki's weapon. 199 200 204
Odin treated Loki's punishment as an opportunity for growth rather than permanent imprisonment. He entrusted Loki to Ethan for exile across other worlds, hoping that broader experience would temper Loki's immaturity and eventually allow him to work alongside Thor for Asgard's future. 207 210
During his time aboard the Goddess of Dawn, Loki exchanged Asgardian magical knowledge for Ethan's guidance and resources. He developed Frost Power, refined his control of the Casket of Ancient Winters, and chose to stabilize himself as an Aesir while preserving his Frost Giant abilities. 240 254 299
Loki returned to Asgard substantially stronger and more self-controlled. Odin welcomed his growth, while Thor was openly delighted to have his brother home. Loki later took responsibility in Asgard's defense and governance, including leading the operation against the Dark Elves and assisting Thor with state affairs while Odin's health declined. 345 346 360 363
Appearance
Loki commonly presents himself as an Asgardian prince in dark green combat attire. After his enhancement, he permanently maintains an Aesir appearance even while wielding Frost Power. 299 360
- Wears a dark green robe in combat. 360
- Uses a distinctive helmet as part of his battle attire. 360
- Carries a Frost Scepter. 360
- Previously transformed into a Frost Giant when using the Casket of Ancient Winters; later use only leaves him pale-eyed and affected by cold rather than changing his form. 299
Personality
Loki is proud, calculating, and intensely conscious of his identity as a god and prince. He initially dismisses Earth sorcerers and often views ordinary beings as lower life forms, though he readily acknowledges those whose power earns his respect. 199 224 298
His greatest insecurity is his rivalry with Thor and his desire to be recognized by Odin and Asgard. Ethan exploits this ambition by presenting Loki with the image of becoming Asgard's hero—the one who saves Thor and defeats Thanos—which gives Loki a concrete reason to pursue strength rather than rely solely on schemes. 211 222
Loki remains mischievous and willing to manipulate others for his own ends, including secretly contacting Katrana Prestor and provoking the Black Dragons. However, exile and training gradually give him greater patience, discipline, and willingness to cooperate with Ethan and Asgard. 240 345 346

Story Role
Earth and the Mind Gem Incident
Loki sends the Destroyer to Earth to attack Thor, then later becomes involved in the Tesseract crisis. His attempt to use the Mind Gem's Scepter to manipulate Earth is dismantled when Ethan exposes the gem, frees Hawkeye, and foils Loki's planned attack on the Helicarrier. 96 199 200
