Outside the resort, police and reporters found the site swallowed by black mist, and a scouting dog disappeared after entering it.

• Pan Wendi, Li Jie, Ye Zhi Ren, and Eagle Eye reported strange activity around the resort, including a red energy pillar, spreading black mist, and a Skull Gate on each surrounding hill.
• Ye Zhi Ren deduced that the gates were spatial nodes forming a barrier that would isolate the resort, while Eagle Eye reported that armed Utopia guards protected each gate.

• Zhou Yongnian and the two SWAT officers shot one monster, destroying one of its yellow eyes, but its cries and their gunfire drew many more creatures toward them.
• Zhou Yongnian activated the buzzer and led the officers back along the safety rope, but they found it severed and realized the black fog had isolated them from the outside world.
