Because he had overexerted his Spiritual Power, the exhaustion on Huo Yuhao's face was plain for anyone to see.
After dinner, urged on by Huo Yun'er, Huo Yuhao, who had indeed reached his limit, said goodnight and went upstairs first.
After taking a quick shower, Huo Yuhao unusually did not sit cross-legged to meditate. Instead, he chose to get a good night's sleep and let his mind relax.
Perhaps because he was truly exhausted today, Huo Yuhao fell into a deep sleep almost the instant his head touched the pillow. Before long, only his steady breathing remained in the room.
No one knew how much time had passed. The moon hung high in the sky outside when an extremely faint click suddenly sounded within the room.
With that sound, Huo Yuhao's bedroom door was pushed open from outside by a narrow crack. Beyond it, a pair of beautiful eyes glowing purple cautiously observed the room.
After waiting for a while and seemingly confirming that Huo Yuhao showed no signs of waking, the person finally gathered her courage and tiptoed inside, carefully closing the door behind her.
As the saying went, the beginning was always the hardest.
Having completed that first step, the figure visibly let out a sigh of relief and walked straight to Huo Yuhao's bedside. The dim surroundings seemed to have no effect whatsoever on her purple-glowing eyes. Moonlight streamed in through the window, illuminating half her face and outlining her delicate features.
It was Tang Ya.
She crouched down and carefully brought her face close to Huo Yuhao's. With the night vision granted by her Purple Demon Eyes, she quietly studied the peaceful sleeping face of the boy before her in the darkness.
Because she was so close, her slightly heavy breaths kept brushing against Huo Yuhao's face. Yet Tang Ya seemed completely unaware. Several minutes passed, and when Huo Yuhao still showed no reaction, she finally seemed to make up her mind. She cautiously leaned in and covered his lips with her own.
Doing something like this to a younger brother three years her junior made Tang Ya feel as though her heart were about to leap out of her chest, while the temperature in her face rose sharply.
After a long while, Tang Ya slowly raised her head. Her throat moved as though she were swallowing sweet dew. Once she had calmed herself, she asked in an incredibly soft voice, as if reassuring herself.
"Yuhao, are you awake?"
Perhaps he was simply too tired, or perhaps he did not need to stay alert while sleeping at home. The deeply asleep Huo Yuhao showed no sign of waking and gave no response at all. Even his pried-open lips remained slightly parted.
"If you don't say anything, that means consent."
Tang Ya breathed somewhat heavily, almost feverishly. Her gaze traveled down from his neck, freely sweeping over the boy before her before finally settling slowly on the collar of his pajamas.
If I'm discovered, my life might be over.
Tang Ya... He's still so young... You're such a pervert.
Even as she continually condemned those little thoughts of hers, Tang Ya had no intention of stopping. Her hands trembling, she began undoing the buttons on Huo Yuhao's pajamas one by one. Though it was troublesome, she was incomparably grateful for it at this moment.
After all, buttons could be undone without a sound. If it were the kind that had to be pulled over the head, that would not have been nearly as convenient.
With a click, Tang Ya opened the bedroom door from within. After briefly scanning the silent hallway, she stepped out of Huo Yuhao's room.
Who knew what she had done? A faint flush from excessive excitement still lingered on her face.
Just as her hand rested on the doorknob and she was about to enter her own room, a crisp sound of a door opening suddenly came from behind her. The abrupt noise made Tang Ya, already feeling guilty as a thief, shudder. She instinctively turned around and saw Gu Yue Na standing in her doorway, looking at her as well.
In such a dim environment, that head of silver hair seemed to shine, gleaming brilliantly. Though those purple eyes were utterly calm, Tang Ya felt as if they held endless meaning.
After they stared at each other for a moment, Gu Yue Na blinked at Tang Ya's somewhat panicked expression. Her ethereal voice rang out in the hallway.
"I was going downstairs to get some water."
With that, she ignored Tang Ya, turned, and headed toward the stairs. Tang Ya stood there blankly for a moment before entering her room, her face burning red.
The next morning.
Huo Yuhao opened his eyes and sat up in bed. Listening to the birds chirping outside the window, the confusion on his face was undisguised.
".?"
He subconsciously raised a hand to touch his somewhat swollen lips, but suddenly froze. Feeling a slight stickiness around his neck and upper body, he pulled open his collar and looked down at himself, yet found nothing unusual.
"Did I sweat last night?"
Huo Yuhao muttered in confusion, not thinking much of it. He slowly closed his eyes and briefly sensed his fully restored Spiritual Power. But then his attention landed on the dark-red orb of light within his Spiritual Space. The longer he looked at it, the more his brows furrowed.
"Why does it feel like Lust's unlocking progress has increased a little?"
What the hell?
Unable to make sense of it, he picked up the clothes he planned to wear today, intending to take a shower first.
The moment he opened the door, Huo Yuhao happened to see Tang Ya coming out of her room. "Morning, Little Ya-jie."
"Ah!"
For some reason, upon seeing him, Tang Ya shuddered like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. Only then did she belatedly greet him back.
"Y-Yuhao, good morning."
"Is something wrong?"
"N-No."
Tang Ya scratched her head, but the smile on her face was somewhat stiff.
"What could possibly be wrong with your Little Ya-jie? I just woke up, so I'm a little groggy."
Although Huo Yuhao found her reaction somewhat strange, he did not dwell on it. Tang Ya also seemed to have calmed herself down, asking casually with concern.
"Yuhao, how did you sleep last night?"
"Pretty well."
He had originally planned to ask Little Ya-jie whether she had encountered anything strange last night, but on second thought, it did not seem like a big deal. Besides, Little Ya-jie probably would not be able to help even if he told her, so he simply kept quiet.
"Mm, that's good. I'll head downstairs first. Remember to come down for breakfast later."
"Oh, okay."
Huo Yuhao nodded. For some reason, watching Tang Ya go downstairs, he felt as though she were fleeing in defeat.
Just as Huo Yuhao withdrew his gaze, the door beside him also opened from within. Gu Yue Na stepped out, her hair slightly messy. Her purple eyes swept over him before finally landing on the clothes in his hands.
"Going to take a shower?"
"Yeah. By the way, did you notice anything strange last night?"
Gu Yue Na blinked twice at his question, then gently shook her head.
"I went downstairs for a glass of water in the middle of the night. I didn't notice anything strange."
"..."
Huo Yuhao's expression twitched, but in the end, he said nothing and turned toward the bathroom.
