The city was divided into thirty-four districts. It was not large, but every district was highly developed and built on multiple levels.
Enormous billboards carved the space into distinct layers.
Between the countless electronic screens, billboards, and neon lights was a relatively small sign that read "District 19 Psychological Clinic."
Generally speaking, anyone who came here for a consultation was a patient with severe mental illness.
At least, that was what the doctor told Wen Xishu.
Apparently, coming here meant having a record kept on file, which would make finding work difficult in the future. Of course, patients could also undergo a Prefrontal Lobotomy and become one of the Superiors at the factory.
They would work on an assembly line, doing prestigious jobs that required no thinking, only mechanically repeated movements performed through muscle memory.
"You mean... everyone who comes here is at serious risk of mental illness? Do I look like that to you?" Wen Xishu asked the doctor.
The doctor's smile was stiff.
"Of course."
"But I just slacked off while sweeping," Wen Xishu said.
The doctor shook his head. Since his memory was not very good, he had equipped himself with an audio version of the operating manual. Wen Xishu heard the following words coming from his Bluetooth earpiece:
"Do not shake your head too vigorously. Comply with the medical profession's head-shaking standards."
The voice was very quiet, but Wen Xishu now possessed Three-Phase Power, and his senses were exceptionally sharp. Hearing this, he wanted to catch a glimpse of... suffering in the doctor's eyes.
Could anyone feel comfortable being tormented and constrained like this?
But Wen Xishu quickly remembered that he was wrong.
