Wen Xishu's guess proved right. Inside a desk covered in heavy graffiti and drawings of red clown noses, he found a slip of paper.
It had been tucked inside a book about healthy human physiology and cut into the shape of a key.
There were words written on it, apparently expressing love for a girl. Her name, however, was nowhere to be seen.
But Wen Xishu guessed it wasn't Anya. He had a feeling Anya would only appear later.
"Hell, how did you know this would be here?" Spark asked, astonished.
Wen Xishu said:
"As long as people grow up normally, they'll develop feelings for the opposite sex at a certain age."
"When we passed the school gates, we saw plenty of torn-up love letters with blurred handwriting."
"A school is where all those innocent feelings first bloom, and also where they're slaughtered."
"Teaching children through shame makes them think certain things are shameful. But often, what overcomes that shame is their affection for the opposite sex."
Spark didn't understand, but it sounded somewhat reasonable.
Wen Xishu guessed this might be Charlie's desk.
Charlie had once fallen for a girl and confessed to her. But something unpleasant had happened afterward.
Holding the paper key from the book, Wen Xishu approached the anatomy chart on the blackboard and saw the red X beside the heart slowly fading.
Gradually... the locked heart began to open.
At the same time, both Wen Xishu and Spark heard something like a great door opening.
It sounded like a heavy stone door slowly swinging open.
Then the heart actually fell out of the chart.
Wen Xishu held the red heart, and a flood of memories swept over him.
Before biology class began, someone had noticed the envelope hidden in Charlie's desk.
"This is Charlie's love letter!
