Don't Try to Figure Out Girls' Thoughts

After bringing the people to Professor McGonagall's office, Sean's task was complete. The rest of the interviews naturally had to be handled by Hogwarts's headmistress.

As he left, West gave Sean a sly wink. Though the potion formula was already in Sean's hands, he still felt that the kid definitely hadn't turned over a new leaf.

Still, since they had allowed him into Hogwarts, Professor Scamander should have taken precautions... right?

With no one around, Sean found a stone wall and slipped into the Room of Requirement.

"Three pairs of dried Grass Ridge Bug hind legs... one stem of Grindylow companion waterweed, taking only the frontmost two inches..." Sean recited the ingredients listed in the potion formula while rummaging through his ring.

This potion was not particularly advanced. Its sole purpose was to determine the range of magical flow in the underground roots of the Resurrection Cage Grass, so there was no need to ask a Potion Master to brew it.

The ingredients were not particularly rare either. Sean found everything he needed from his own stockpile.

Taking out a cauldron and a potion table, Sean began following the instructions in the formula.

"Use a silver knife to make a cross-shaped cut at the very bottom of the dried Grass Ridge Bug hind leg to facilitate the release of its properties—ugh, this thing is tiny. Making a cross cut won't be easy..." Sean pulled out Snape's Potions Notebook again and began flipping through it.

"I remember there was something... ah, right, this—just cut off the bottom of the dried hind leg directly. During the drying process, magic in the finer extremities often dissipates with time, so removing them will not affect the potion's overall properties." Snape's Potions Notebook truly was useful. Sean quickly found a simpler method of preparation.
