Sean instinctively glanced at Dorniya. She was looking nostalgically at the decorations around them, and she had even somehow produced a rag.
It looked like she had long been used to coming here to clean.
The possibility of Dorniya lying to me is very low, and there's no need for her to... This is an illusion. She found me because she saw through the connection between souls. If she wanted to deceive me, she could have started in the real world.
Or perhaps this is part of Peak of Soul's Return's trial? No, that's not right either. I've turned back into how I looked in the real world...
More importantly, while the illusion of Peak of Soul's Return can indeed develop freely based on memories, it absolutely cannot develop over such a long period of time. Sean had only been in this illusion for a day or two; it couldn't possibly have produced so much.
Dorniya wasn't lying to him, and this wasn't Peak of Soul's Return's trial... No...
Sean realized he had overlooked something. He immediately asked, "Dorniya, you said that things in Avalon can be preserved indefinitely. Then is Avalon affected by the illusion of Peak of Soul's Return?"
Dorniya tilted her head and thought for a moment. "It is affected. This place really is an illusion, and I am a phantom too—but I can see through souls. To me, as long as the world is real enough, I can switch back and forth within the phantom. You could say my real body is sleeping in the real world, but the essence of a living being is determined by its soul. If I am standing here and saying all this, then I am the real Dorniya."
"Avalon is the same. This place is both illusory and real."
