The Elder Wand swished, and a pale blue cage of magic enclosed the black beak at its center.

The eyes exposed on either side grew even more panicked. It cautiously touched the pale blue cage, only to be "taught a lesson" by the magic. Trembling from the pain, it floated at the very center, not daring to move at all.

Sean was utterly stunned—he was no careless man. After killing that octopus monster, he had inspected it thoroughly, and this beak, the only part that had retained its complete shape, had naturally received special attention.

Only after confirming that it posed no danger had Sean put it away.

What he had not expected was that he had sensed neither its magical power nor even its life force?

He had originally thought it was some unique and durable magical material. Who would have thought it was actually a living creature?

"Can you speak?" Sean frowned slightly, and his cold voice made the other party shudder—though it was hard to tell, the black beak trembled a little, which was probably what it meant.

"Clack—clack—" The upper and lower halves of the beak struck together, making some sounds, but Sean had no idea what it was saying.

Was my Beast Speaker ineffective? Or was this thing not a Magical Creature at all?

Seeing Sean's expression grow even colder, the black beak became more anxious.

"Clack-clack—clack-clack—clack-clack!"

"Can't speak, but it's pretty good at expressing its emotions—" Sean reached into the magical sphere cage and tapped the creature's hard surface with his knuckles.

The thing looked pitiful. At Sean's touch, the tiny eyes on either side darted about in panic.

"Dave, can you sense whether this thing has a brain?" Sean asked his Swooping Evil.

Dave immediately sent back a thought. "No sense of one.
