Background

Blazing Fire first appears during Gu Shen's first Deep Sea Transcendent trial. In absolute darkness, he creates it by tearing through disorder and establishing his own order. The resulting flame is weak enough to be threatened by the trial's “winds,” but its core cannot truly be extinguished 60.

After awakening, Blazing Fire forms a symbiotic relationship with Gu Shen. It develops spontaneous emotions and urges—most notably the desire to consume Transcendent Source Matter—which can influence its user if he does not restrain it through willpower 86 289. Its growth differs from conventional cultivation: it feeds on Source Matter, including Black Spots and remnants of other Transcendent powers 167 212.

Its connection with Owl's Blood Fire becomes central during the Sang Continent Grotto incident. The two flames share an origin, can draw from and transform into one another, and instinctively attract each other. Gu Shen ultimately kills Owl and absorbs most of the remaining Blood Fire rather than accepting Owl's proposed fusion 865 869.

By the end of the story, Blazing Fire is identified as a higher-order power than the Fire Seeds themselves: a force representing convergence, coordination, and order against the Fire Seeds' disorder 1137 1238.

Appearance

Blazing Fire normally manifests as a small flame at the center of Gu Shen's brow. Its form and color change with its state, the surrounding conditions, and the Domain being used.

Personality

Blazing Fire is not wholly inanimate. Gu Shen compares it to an infant whose eventual nature depends on his choices, and it responds to comfort, command, danger, and provocation 86.

Its strongest instinct is self-preservation. It stores devoured Source Matter and automatically consumes those reserves to resist Mental Power attacks that threaten Gu Shen 325 326. It may also aggressively counterattack intrusive low-level Mental abilities, requiring Gu Shen to suppress it when discretion is necessary 496.
