Bai Xiu was born to a frail woman of the Bai Clan’s North of the River branch. His mother died after childbirth, while his father was reportedly disposed of; when Bai Xiu’s ability awakened, the Bai Clan sealed his file and brought him to Snow Forbidden City. Though cultivated as the clan’s foremost genius, his branch-family background was regarded by some elders as an insult to the direct bloodline. 357
