Background / History

Life at Ironwood Manor

Lin Dong names Little Flame when the Fire Python Tiger cub is only a few days old, still palm-sized and unable to open his eyes. He feeds the cub Ancestral Stone Spiritual Liquid, anticipating that Little Flame will eventually become his mount 20.

Little Flame soon hunts independently in the forests around Ironwood Manor. Despite growing into a tiger weighing several hundred pounds, he continues trying to leap into Lin Dong’s arms. He also becomes familiar enough with the manor to carry Lin Dong and Qing Tan directly home when commanded 22.

Becoming Lin Yan

After Little Flame survives his first Nirvana Tribulation, his human appearance bears a partial resemblance to Lin Dong. When he begins addressing Lin Dong as his master, Lin Dong corrects him: Little Flame is now Lin Yan, his third brother, while Little Marten is his second brother 146.

Lin Dong continues supplying him with Ancient Heavenly Crocodile blood essence, while Little Marten provides martial arts. Shortly after entering the Ancient Battlefield, the brothers obtain a Heavenly Demon Tiger Bone and help him undergo the bone replacement that transforms him into a Heavenly Demon Tiger 146 151 152 153.

Independent Life in the Demon Domain

Little Flame accompanies Little Marten to the Demon Domain and initially lives under Wu Zhong’s protection at the Heavenly Demon Marten Tribe. Although cultivation resources are supplied freely, he secretly leaves after half a year to travel independently. During these travels, he discovers the inheritance cave of a Samsara Stage tiger expert and encounters Xu Zhong 300 366.

By the time Lin Dong finds him again, Little Flame has become Thunder Abyss Mountain’s Flame General, founded the Tiger Devouring Army, and concealed his cultivation while preparing to overthrow Xu Zhong 366.

In human form, he is simple, honest, and initially awkward around others. He smiles bashfully during introductions and accepts Little Marten’s teasing without taking offense. His admiration for Lin Dong is so wholehearted that Lin Dong jokes there is little point asking him for an impartial opinion 146 148 167.

His gentleness toward companions contrasts with his ferocity in battle. He kills opponents threatening the group without hesitation, yet carefully shrinks into a kitten rather than risk hurting Jiang Yingying 75 159 171.
