Background / History

Tang Hao was involved with Ah Yin, a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor, and was present with her when she gave birth to Tang San. According to Gui Mei's account, a Martial Soul Hall branch first reported Tang Hao travelling openly with a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast; after he disappeared for nearly a year, Martial Soul Hall located the pair again shortly after Ah Yin had given birth. During the ensuing pursuit, Tang Hao conserved his strength by primarily defending, then escaped after Ah Yin sacrificed herself. 35

Mu Yu's later investigation concluded that Tang Hao may have deliberately exposed Ah Yin to Martial Soul Hall in order to obtain the power from her sacrifice while damaging Martial Soul Hall's reputation. Ah Yin eventually accepted this interpretation, recalling that Tang Hao had left shortly before their location was exposed and believing he had coveted her Soul Ring and Soul Bone. 35 36

After Ah Yin's sacrifice, Tang Hao kept her Blue Silver Emperor form in a dark, damp cave. Mu Yu later removed the plant from this hiding place, beginning the chain of events that led Ah Yin to turn against him. 32 34

Personality

Tang Hao is fiercely protective of Tang San, repeatedly retaliating against those he believes have harmed his son. He pursued Mu Yu after her confrontation with Tang San, sought to punish Zhao Wuji over Tang San's treatment, and intervened when Tang San and Xiao Wu were attacked during the tournament finals. 19 31 43

His protectiveness is paired with intimidation and opportunism. He attempted to capture Mu Yu for leverage against the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, later pursued her again with the intent to take her External Soul Bone for Tang San, and threatened Ning Rongrong to pressure Mu Yu. 19 23 31

When confronted by the resurrected Ah Yin, Tang Hao showed guilt and attempted to deny her accusations, but she rejected his explanations. 43 44

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang Hao wields the Clear Sky Hammer, which he manifests as an enormous black hammer in combat. Its appearance was sufficient for Mu Yu and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to identify him as a member of the Clear Sky Sect. 19 20

Story Role / Major Arcs

Conflict with Mu Yu and the Clear Sky Sect

After Mu Yu defeated Tang San and Xiao Wu in the Star Dou Great Forest, Tang Hao pursued her and attempted to seize her as leverage for Soul Bones from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Mu Yu recorded his actions with her skull Soul Bone, and Gu Rong's intervention forced Tang Hao to retreat. 19

Mu Yu, Gu Rong, Chen Xin, and Ning Fengzhi brought the recording to the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Xiao recognized Tang Hao in the footage, while the sect elders promised to find him and prevent him from harming Mu Yu again. 20 21

Tang Hao later attacked Mu Yu again, coveting her External Soul Bone and intending to give it to Tang San. She escaped into the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace, where Tang Hao halted rather than openly provoke the empire. 23

Pursuit and Retaliation

Mu Yu and Dugu Bo deliberately lured Tang Hao into a confrontation, allowing the Clear Sky Sect's Seventh Elder to attack him. Tang Hao fled and was pursued by the elder for five years. 24

He later appeared at Shrek Academy to punish Zhao Wuji over his treatment of Tang San. Xiao Mo blocked Tang Hao's attack, while Mu Yu threatened retaliation against Tang San if Tang Hao harmed Ning Rongrong; Tang Hao withdrew after recognizing the strength of Mu Yu's allies. 31

Ah Yin's Defection and Death

After Mu Yu removed Ah Yin from Tang Hao's cave and investigated his past, Ah Yin concluded that Tang Hao had betrayed her to Martial Soul Hall. She agreed to aid Mu Yu in seeking revenge. 32 35 36

During the tournament finals, Tang Hao intervened to protect Tang San and Xiao Wu, but Xiao Mo blocked him and Ah Yin prevented his escape. When Dugu Bo attacked, Mu Yu's puppet pierced Tang Hao from behind, killing him. 43 44
